Whats up with the EVO's?????????
I have a H/C C5 with 3:90 gears and all the bolt ons. I figure it should make around 400rwhp when I get it tuned. Now there is a guy I know who wants to race and he has an EVO VIII. I think he has a turbo upgrade, but I'm not sure. So whats the deal with those EVO's and should I be worried? I have some DR's on ZR1's in my storage shed.........should I dig them out?

I would definately put on the dr's and get that thing tuned. Modded evo 8's are no joke, if he has an upgraded turbo who knows what else he has or isn't telling you about. If he's game run him from a role and take away his awd advantage. With the times posted in your sig and your additional mods if you get it tuned you should beat him, but who knows now adays.

I'll try to find out what he has..............I haven't ran with my new setup, but I figure I should run low 12's to high 11's now. I put on LT's, CF driveshaft, mcleod twin disc clutch, and a stage III rear differential with 3:90 gears since the 12.60's I ran!

find out what he has.
The most common upgrade is the gt3071r and the gt35r turbo. on race gad both are capable of making 500+ whp.
dig out the DR's just in case.
BTW a roll won't take away the evo;s awd advantage specially if the vette is on street tires while the vette spins from a roll the evo will hook and go.

exactly...a roll from 50 with both cars having big hp number...the evo won't spin..just hook and go.
I'm still confused why everything thinks evos have no top end also.

Well, as mentioned, you need more info...Even just a GT30 upgrade with the right tune it can easily make 400 whp, which from a dig would be easily good enough for mid 11's. Most Evo's with the basic bolt ons + cams run high 11's to low 12's. I have been thinking of the GT30 and was talking to my tuning shop about it and they said they have a customer with similar mods to mine with GT30 and he makes 430 whp. So depending on his mods it should be a good race...get some video if possible

The simple thing would be to run a better tire than a drag radial......you could possibly be in the mid 11's. If he is faster than that....oh well.

Also, David Busher(think that's his name) said that dyno was generous, so probably closer to 650whp. The guy you know probably still has the stock motor and considerably less boost with no spray. If he is running pump gas, I would give you the nod.

I wouldn't be worried about the evo. Yes, there are some very fast ones, here but, your car with drag radials, should be able to take him out no problem. No problem.
bolt on the drag radials, and make us proud.

I just talked to a guy who knows him and says the EVO has an intake, exaust, blow-off valve, turbo timer, and an upgraded turbo! He don't know what turbo it is, but he said he paid $1200 for it new and that he wants the $4000 one. I don't know anything about there turbo's, so I don't know what kind of turbo $1200 could get you! He also said the car didn't come with power anything, or a radio! I think he said it was an RS. What is that? Anyway........Now I'm more confused than before! Why couldn't it be an LSX or a mustang.
Can anyone shed some light on this???
