i just recently posted my numbers after dyno tuning my car (382rwhp, 370rwtq) and last night i went out and decided to go out there and have a little fun. however, it wasnt fun and im still a little thrown off by what happened last night. I raced a 2003 z06 that claims to be bone stock except for a k&n filter and gutted cats. He is also on 20 inch wheels out back and 19s up front. We started in 2nd gear at 40mph at his request which puts me at about 3800rpm. anyways, we punched it even though he had a slight jump on me plus i spun some and all of a sudden he had 1 car on me and through each gear it didnt seem to get any closer than one car. He popped the hood and he had stock manifolds and a filter. i started going off because i am almost positive that he sprayed a 50 shot on me or so. i didnt bother to check for anything on his car because i dont feel i have to. He claims his car is a freak and i say regardless of how much of a freak your car is i can bet you 500 dollars that your car doesnt put more power down than mine. The reason why i brought that up is because it seemed that he was pulling very slowly away from me up top and there is no way in hell that it could be possible. My friend says that it is my car spinning through each gear and his car being on 20s doesnt spin once it is on a roll. Im saying that he had to spray me at least a 50 shot (sneeky pete). what do you guys think?

If he sprayed, he probably would have walked you better than that...gutting the cats and doing the intake (or was it just the stock intake with a K&N drop-in filter?) might have been enough to make the difference.

I had something similar happen when I raced my 2002 SS against a '98 SS. Both had only airlids and everything else the same, and I pulled him 1-2 cars every time from 30-90-ish. His might just be running better...dyno numbers don't mean **** unless you both dynoed at the same time. That would be the only way to tell if your numbers are inflated or not.

i dont have a camaro anymore. i raced him with my 04 z06 with full exhaust and tuned. like i said earlier, i put down 382rwhp and 370tq and it is fully tuned. His car is a bone stock 03 z06 with a filter (which i have as well) and gutted cats and on 20s all around which i know damn well they are heavier than my stock z06 wheels. My friend bets money that what happened was that i spun up top ( i still have my stock f1s with 20k miles on then) and i didnt feel that i was spinning, but my car could have slightly been spinning meanwhile the other z06 was on 20s with almost brand new tires which means he probably had much much better traction than i did which is what cost me that one car advantage he had on me. also, keep in mind that he did get the jump on me and i proceeded to punch it after he did. ( stupid me)

Sorry but, the f-body is gonna get rocked, every single time.

Do the math,..the Z didn't spray. No way. Z06's are capable of 11 second et's with tires.

His power and weight vs yours .. & his car prolly still has better top end i would say he has the advantage. if he sprayed a 50shot in that race he would have walked you for sure.

allright..let me refrase it all again since some of you still think i raced in my old car.
i raced in my 2004 z06 vs his 2003 z06 vette.
my car has: lg pro long tube headers, 3 inch x pipe, k&n filter, ripper shifter, b&b cat back and on street tires. it put down 382rwhp and 370rwtq after the dyno tune.
his car has: gutted cats, filter, 20 inch heavy *** rims all around.
i know that if that is all his car has there is nooooooooooooo way he is making more power than i am. He got the jump and i was dumb enough to punch it, but at no point during the race did i start to reel him in. (even up top)
i am saying he has to have a small shot (50shot) or i am spinning badly on my 20k mile old stock tires and i didnt even realize i was spinning on each gear ( i had the competitive driving mode on)

I apologize for my ignorance but do Z06s really spin enough to matter at 70mph+. I dont see the point of putting on a 50 shot. Maybe he changed the gears. Who knows? Something was up though....no reason you should have lost.

Maybe you're clutch is slipping. Mine died at 18K. I was running dr's though.

my gears went in fine without a single issue. i have to believe that i must have been spinning because my tires have 20k miles on them and its not like i have alot more power than he does. (20rwhp if that) but it should be enough to reel him in and pass him.

he didn;t spray you , if he did he would have had 3 cars on you with a 50 shot easily...sounds like he may have had gears or just drove a little harder...the launch helps as well...

I agree with SDB, a Z06 with cold air, gears and a good driver is very FAST, as PROVEN up here by a Z06 owner. Dont always assume they are using an additive could just be skill and a little luck.

Your sig does not match your mods list,and maybe the other ZO6 driver was beating the hell out of his car and was making better use of power band,shift rpm and maybe,maybe even powershifting that thing.
You do know you can still LOSE to a less powerful car right?

If your spinning then you were on wet roads,cause even real bald tires will not spin with your dyno numbers anything past 2nd gear(UP TOP) IMHO.

All in all you did not win,should have,but didn't. Now go get tires and or some more mods and try again. I'm sure he liked beating you,especially after you ranted and wanted to bet $500 that your car has more power. He will gladly do it again,i'm sure.
