A friend of mine had been talking smack for a little while now. hes got an 04 gto a4. he has a K&N intake, shorties, and a chip. ive got an A4 and the mods listed below. who do you think would have the advantage in a race?

i have a feeling it would be pretty close. GMHTP did a nitrous ls2 gto vs. nitrous trans am and the gto came out a little on top, but i think it did have a slightly bigger shot and more HP, i'll have to check though and thats just an example. but being the gto is ls1 i doubt that his mods will overcome his weight you'd be pretty close.

I think it should be close. He has a regular ls1 in there like yours..only difference would be the intake and heads to give him alittle extra power...but then again the GTO weights about 150-200 pounds more than a f-body from everything i have seen.

i saw the article, gto came out on top, in terms of time. but the trans am was something like 2mph faster then the gto. with a pull from 2nd gear around 40 or so, trans am has the win i think

Are you guys on crack? The GTO in GMHTP was an 05 = LS2. His friend has an 04. Same LS1. Different heads and intake? No.

So he has a heatsoaking K&N (it's not shielded very well), shorty headers (which don't do much at all), and a "chip" (which is impossible). Not to mention the GTO weighs a lot more. The T/A should win without a problem.

one thing i didnt understand was how he said he had a chip. i thought ls1's didnt use chips. anyone know anything about this?

He told me how it was an actual chip. he bought it from ebay which is most likely a big mistake and he said how it costed him around $200. i see them selling chips at some places like the JET chips. arent they bad for ls1s?

i did make a note that it was an ls2, which should give him more of an idea if an ls2 gto and ls1 TA with similar or atleast comparable mods are still pretty much equal, then what would be the obvious result of an ls1 gto vs an ls1 TA with similar mods.

From experience I would say you would have 1 to 2 cars from a dig to 75 mph and maybe even 2 to 3 cars.

My experience with a 2004 GTO with similiar mods and a M6 was close to 3 cars by 75 mph. I also have the LS6 intake and a tune and shift kit but he had more exhaust work then the guy you are talking about.

The only thing that the goat has going for it is the LS6 intake. And not 100% sure but don't GTO's have true duel exhaust, but should be really close.

I ran a 01 black bird trans am at a 30 roll he had me by about a fender i only had like 300 miles and a shity shifter, he claims it make's 344 rwhp it saide 380 on the hood from gmmg ..

The GTO will lose. the best et i heard for an 04 was 14.0 with a 6-speed car.

and yes the gto does have dif heads and intake.... LS6 intake, and 241 castings vs 852 castings)
