Default my chances against a ford gt-

a friend recently got one. i KNOW the magazines ran as fast as 11.6 and as slow at 12.2 with them, but in a real life scenario (on the street, kind of colder out, him on street tires and me on drag radials).

any guesses to the outcome? im going to offer him out tomorrow night, hopefully he isn't afraid to beat on his 170k$ car . i think i have a very good chance since i'll hook. it'll be from a stop and the race will go no longer than 1/4 mile (i get out of it around 110mph-115mph)

i'll update this post when we run also but i'd like to hear some opinions.

I don't see you having a snowball's chance in hell. Termin8r had a 250 shot on mods like yorus in a m6, and was neck and neck on a roll.

Unless he spins like crazy off the line, and granny shifts, and shuts it down early, your prolly gonna get killed... But race anyways, and get it on video!!!

You'll have him for an 1/8 mile, then he'll reel you in like you threw it in reverse.

This thread will be worthless without undisputable video evidence.

You're screwed. It's going to be ugly too. I'm talking bus lengths.

no ****! ah well im gonna try anyway. im not into it enough to get a vid, nor do i have a camera at all- but i'll post up results either way.

this is also funny because now if somehow i win nobody will believe me . it's ok im just surprised everybody thinks it'll be such a slaughtering.

unit- im curious how you came to the conclusion that he would put buslengths on me, when all of the data (which i know doesnt' mean everything but can be taken into perspective on both cars) shows that our cars et. very similar but the gt's trap will be much higher. how do you get buslengths out of that when we are going from a stop and only for 1/4 mile..? AND i have the consistent auto with tires and he has the stick with street tires.

I think even if he launches from idle spins some and gets back in it, it's going to be a close race when it comes to the finish line. I'd throw a 100-150 shot on starting in 2nd gear to try to keep him from closing the gap so quickly.

Peace,
Josh

Well they do run 11.2s on average. I don't think you'll be ahead of it at any point unless the other guy just can't drive at all.

I'm just telling you what I think based upon the 10 of them or so that
I've raced. They get out of the hole just fine on stock rubber. Throw
your ET right out the window on the street. You'll have similiar traction.
If that's the case, you're done. He's got way too much power for you.
He should trap at least 125mph and ET 11.80 or so if he's an average
driver.

You ran 12.12(1.68 60'), which I imagine is your best run...what are the chances of you duplicating that time--especially on the street? If you ran 12.12 with something like a 1.9 60' then I'd give you better odds.

You have a auto, better tires and more experience with your car.....so, I say you still have a shot at winning.

just race him and dont worry about what everyone on here has to say. Either way it will be fun. And plus what do you have to lose. That car costs 170k. I think its hilarious to see cars like that actually get a close run by a 20k car. So whether you hang with him or get killed its all in fun. Good luck

12.12 is my best time but i have about 10-15 12.1X slips. i agree that with my launch on the street my car is probably a 12.3 or so, maybe a bit faster maybe a bit slower depends on how hard i flash it and if it hooks...

either way im gonna run him and see how it happens. unit- i had no idea you ran more than 2 of the gt's and i though you ran all of them from rolls (i had no reason to think otherwise anyway).

If your best run at the track is a 12.1, no way you can run a 12.3 on the street. More like 12.5 or so.
