Default Killed a slightly modded '03 Cobra

I took the Brute out Saturday and met up with some buds in the fog. We rolled out to a spot and found some fairly dry pavement to play on. The Cobra has Magnaflows, CAI, ported TB, Predator tune and was on DR's. I had on the 31X14.5-15 QTP's. We got there and I did a HUGE burnout while he went down the track to check it out. I did a smaller one when he was doing his after he got back. We stage up and the flagger's arm drops. I'm holding at 2K on the brake, slam her down and release while the stall flashes to 3K. She kicks, spins about 10 feet, rocks back and goes. The tranny shifts at 5K to 2nd and I get a wiggle since I'm running the tires at 10 PSI. I looked in the mirror and see the Snake about 12 cars back start to pull slightly. I lift a bit early cause I can't see where the line is and finish 6 cars up. The Cobra was definately traction challenged and is getting some new DR's. I tweaked a lifter and have to address that before we go again. I expect it'll be a closer race next time.

I thought peanut ports were too small for performance engines? I'm amazed that car made the numbers in your signature with peanuts, what casting number are they? I might get a set for my 468!

These are the oval port heads built by Eldebrock for the ZZ502. I don't have the casting numbers but can look.

OK, don't bother, I know which ones they are. I thought you meant the actual peanut port heads that GM used back in the '70's on their truck engines. Most guys use peanut port heads for boat anchors these days and put the large oval port heads on their cars like the 781 or 049 castings. But you have done one better and got aftermarket heads, sounds like your combo works good.

It works for now. Nothing a set of Brodix wouldn't cure.

You can tell when a car is 12 cars back and starting to pull ? If it's dry on Saturday I'll come out and let you feel good about your chevelle.

What? You can't? It was dry Saturday but the Brute is down with some lifter issues. I just gotta decide whether I'm going with lifters or lifters and cam.

What was the point of racing a 281 c.i. mustang on dr's when you got 31x14.5" qtp's?

I'm assuming he wasn't using M/T dr's of course. And Im curious, were you running those QTP's when you spun on the dyno?

Could it be that Cobras can run 10's on DR's?

He had on BFG DR's and no, I didn't have the QTP's on when I dyno'd, hence the wobbly graph from spinning. What's the point? Let's see, he makes 459/425 to the ground and we've raced often. This was the first race from a dig for the Brute.

Cool, we can go after I get her back up and ready. She's down for the lifters and such at the moment.
