Just raced my cousins 04GTO My cousin got his 04 GTO about 6 months ago, but everytime he came to my house for our family parties he never brought the GTO. Anyway this Saturday I come home and I see his GTO in front of my house 
I go inside and talk with the fam for a minute. So, my cousin comes up to me and says lets run em. For a while he's been sayin he thinks he can beat me.
His mods are magna flows k&n filter and he said x-pipe. x-pipe??? I didn't know GTO's were true duals he's an A4 too....well anyway I have a 99 SS M6 with GMMG, LID, K&N filter. Now we line em up at about 50MPH and he takes off at the 2nd honk so I say f*ck it and play catch up. I'm at his rear fender and start to reel him in and pass him up. We raced about 8 more times from about the same speed and I pass him up quite easily. First time I raced a GTO, but it was pretty funny to see the look on his face after we got back to my house

The GTOs are heavy but I would not say they are slow. The modded 04 I raced with a M6 was hurting me from a roll with my A4 from from a dig I put 3 cars on it by 75 mph. The M6 is a definite advatage from a roll IMO. Also, the Goats sound real nice with the stick and I can vouch for them Not being slow. Just too heavy IMO.

The GTO's are definetly not slow. They do weigh more and suffer extra parasitic losses from the IRS, but they also have better gearing. In all honesty, it really does not take much to make an 04 as fast as a stock f-body. 300 pounds equates to roughly needing around 30 horsepower to even things up. Put headers and an intake on an 04 and it will be as fast as a stock f-body.

Yea there pretty slow IMHO....
When I was bone stock and raced F bodies on the freeway who were stock or close to stock I assume...It was a real close race with the Fbody's hanging beside me till around 90 mph were I would slowly start to pull on them and have 1-2 carlengths by 120 mph...
When I was bone stock and raced the 04 GTO's it was pretty ugly...Once again I assume/hope they were stock...there was never a part were they would hang with me side by side till 90 mph like the F bodies.
It was more like the Roadrunner and the Cyote...We both hit WOT and then they dissapeared...Multiple carlengths by 120 mph...TOO MANY TO REALLY COUNT ACCURATLY....
the funniest thing is that some of these guys swear that all 04 gto's can run 13.0-13.3.....
Oh Well I guess. BEEP BEEP

First of all, an 04 GTO is not that much slower than an LS1 f-body, period. 300 pounds difference but better gearing. We just need to learn to launch with our IRS setups. I would say an average of 2/10 to 3/10 difference, which can easily be offset. I had a 99 SS M6, it was faster, but not carlengths faster... What is the problem you guys have with us, especially the GM guys? We all have LSx engines, in my opinion the best domestic NA engine out, so what is the problem?

I personally really like the GTO's. A guy that works at my local shop drove his stock goat mid to low 13's. now its a low 11 second car. Good kill though man!

I ran a 04 GTO m6 from a roll with our A4 TA pretty much stock and i pulled 1-2 carlengths to 110-120mph. From my personal dealings with them they are slow.

Man I've been waiting to run one of those. Last week I pulled up next to a black 05/06 GTO, but he didn't wanna play. Do any of you guys know how to post up vids. I have a sony camera and the tape it uses is Hi-8 tapes, but I have no clue on how to post a vid. Its me against my friends 04 cobra
