99 TA vs. 02 TA WS6
today after classes get out i am going to race my freind that has an 02 WS6 completely stock and auto. I have a 99 Trans Am auto not WS6, but i have the mods that are in my sig. With the power programer i have the rev limiter set at 6200rpm and i have the shift firmness set at 50% if that makes any difference in my time. What will be the outcome? I will post back up after we race!

Setting your rev limiter higher and adjusting shift firmness will get you nothing IMO.
With your mods on a 99' TA (SLP lid, Dynomouth catback system) I would give the advantage to the 02' WS6 slightly. The lid and catback IMO about equal out to the 02 WS6 and the difference is so slight to be a drivers race. Especially in a street race with two unknown talents.
But, being I have a WS6 with same engine I have to give it to the 02' WS6.
Let us know what happens and try at least 3 runs in case there is a slip up.

we only raced once because of the traffic and decided it would be better to do it at night, but i did beat the WS6. I beat him off the line and pulled away from there but i probably only beat him by 1 car. he said he had a bad start. so we will do it again soon hopefully.

alright, we raced last night. 3 times. 1st race, i beat him off the line and hold him half way through. then when he hist 3rd gear it just pulls on me for some reason. we didnt race exactly a 1/4 mile because he forgot to start his accelerometer so we raced up to about 120 or so. He got me by about a car length there. the 2nd race i got a worse start and he beat me by about a car length in the 1/4. 3rd race i tried to feather it and screwed it all up and he got me worse. so the 1st race was my best and the closest. but how come his 3rd gear pulled on me like that. i think i have a little lower gears than he does because when i go 75 its at 2500rpm, when he goes 75 his rpms are at like 2200. we both have the same SLP lid. the rest of my mods are in my sig. could he be faster just because he has the ramair hood and airbox and the LS6 intake?

Yes the LS6 makes a difference not much though. He could also have the 3.23 gears and you could have the 2.73 or something. Im sure there is some kind of option code on your door panels that could tell you what gears you both have.

Stock i had 3.23's but the place that had it when they fixed it put i think 3.42's in it. He told me that they were 4.11's but there is no way they are that. In order for my speedo to be right i have to set the gearing for 3.42's and 27'' tall tires but my rears are only 26'' but thats what i had to do in order to make the speedo right.

Im sure your tuning isnt helping, your probably losing power anything past 5900-6k, so keeping that extra 200 rpm per gear probably isnt helping, i mean my power starts to drop off early due to timing ground into my cam so mine is set to shift at 5900, anything past that and theres less power. The LS6 intake seems to help up top some once the air is moving faster. Get a stall and race him again.

If you had an A4 with with 3.23 gears and you were doing 2200 rpms at 75 you would have 3.23 gears
Either way you would want to be in a lower gear to maximize torque with a higher rpm.
That's my 2 cents worth...
