Got challenged by a litre bike
Ok, I've seen the other threads, but I can't find any hard info on what a CBR 1000 can run in the 1/4. Mainly looking for MPH not ET stats from the mid 90's to 2005. All I could find on the net was a bunch of bike lovars going around some circuit quoting hp/lb and how it was the fastest thing they'd evar ridden.
So, I was at the parts store trying to locate a PCV valve for the Buick and got into a conversation about drag racing. He slammed drag racing and my car for being broken b/c of drag racing (my new balancer should be here Monday and she'll be good as new). I think I made the comment about picking on bikes with my Buick in Denver and that was too much for him to believe.
He has a CBR 1000. Didn't ask what year. He's never been to the drag strip. Guessing it is used, maybe around the year 2000. He said no way I'd beat a 1000cc bike. I said prolly not, but I've beaten bikes tho.
Any chance a built Turbo Buick can keep up from 0-140? I don't know what I'll run at sealevel where I'm at now, guessing mid 10's @ 130+. Currently pushing 3-5 psi more boost since my uncorrected 11.2's and 122-126 mph runs at 5800 ft up (Bandimere). With my M/T 28x9 ET Drags I was able to put down bikes at Bandimere, come to think of it I actually never lost to one (3W-0L).
Links to stats on these CBR 1000's is all I need to know. If he'll run a 9.50 @ 140 then yeah, I won't try to run him. If he should run a 10.8 @ 127 then yeah, it's on.

The bike would go 10.0 with a pro. On the good side, it's the slowest of all the liter bikes...and I really doubt he could do better than 10.2 and a low 140...probably something like a 1.8 60ft, if not way worse.
A new zx10 would be a completely different story, there are a few that have gone 9.3s slammed with just a pipe and sprockets.

I ran 11.2's with a DA just under a million feet. I'm now at sealevel which gives me a couple more ponies, hopefully. I'm going for mid 10's at 130+ next time to the track (Bradenton).

thats with a PRO rider.... dont forget that...
I have an '05 R1 that is pretty much every bolt on for it.... i pulled a 9.98 @ 145.... with a 1.6 60 ft. ONE TIME. every other time i couldnt beat a 10.08. its all in the launch though, bikes are really hard to launch and are VERY hard on the clutches due to having to feather it out past 60 ft unless they have it stretched.

I'm an avid LS-1 fan, but I have to chime in here. I have a 2004 Yamaha R6 (600cc) and I am by no means a professional "drag" racer. However, I only have a race air filter, Arata Full system exhaust, and custom tune. And I ran 11.01 @ 127. Now you're talking nearly double the horsepower, with same weight. I'd be weary, in that regardless of the launch, he'll prob trap 140+. Good luck, like the quote, race him and find out.

UHH what?? the New 600's RUn 10's LMAO that New CBR 1000 or even a 2k Plus model is going to walk him speaking from experience. Its going to take you over 600 HP to take him from just the DIG .sry just no way, its going to happen. If you beat him that Means he BELONGS on a 600cc Bike.
