Default Little Sti kid starting to bother me

Ok I guess i'm entering the stupid world of "will this car beat me or can I take him"... but here i go sense we can't race for a while anyways... There This kid with a newer 2000 up I really know nothing about these cars and need to do some research on them, and all imports.. But He's buddy says he has a bigger turbo pushing like 21psi sounds like bs to me but also cold air intake something about a waste gate... but no internal engine work, and I guess he can drive... He's buddy is the one talking the mad **** lol never the owner of the car is it... He says he beat a 450hp Corbra, which to me is bs cuase i'm pretty sure there isnt one any where near here with that much power.. I told him i would Run him when the track opens up "still have to fix my car" and I would only run him on my DR. He also claims he took that mustang from a 30 Roll, and wanted to roll race me but I said no to that and only at the track, I really don't even think i'll need to spray but i got it if I need it and I"ll probley have my headers on it by then, and I usally can cut a pretty good 60ft Time. Now i've raced a few of these at the track and none has really inpressed me at all most ran 14's few slower , none fast that i've seen... So what do these cars run with some mods and hell even stock.. I can't see him even in the 12's

you should beat him. Im kinda in the same situation, but i have a low 13 sec car at best (stock LT1 on the squeeze)... everyone in town BUT HIM thinks i should kill him and take his money.

And you have a stall? How do you like that? Im thinking of getting one ASAP.

IF he's running 21+lbs and can drive,
you could have your hands full...

That is very true, I don't think its going to be a big thing If he shows up to the track i'll race him i don't care I race for the fun of it, but by time that comes i'll probley be running 12.5 on Engine So I really don't see him running That

The 14's you've seen out of these cars were probably normal WRX's or people not launching their STi's hard enough because they run low 13's stock. If he's gotta bigger turbo and can drive you should definately use the bottle.

idk why but every time i read here, everyone that has an "upgraded turbo" always seems to run 21 psi. Anyone else notic that?

Just to break the mold and be a smartass let me say that I've got upgraded turbos on my Stealth and am running 26 PSI peak falling back to about 20 by 8000 RPM. Oh ****, so at one point I'm running 21 PSI also. My bad.

UH - 21 lbs with which turbo? I can run in the low 12s on pump gas with only 21 lbs (about 415 WHP or so). Stock STi internals can run around for a surprising amount of time at boost levels of up to 26 lbs if using C16 or meth injection. Just be sure not to detonate, or the stock cast piston ringlands are toast.

Having said that, most STi drivers are not very good at drag racing - the STi gear ratios also suck for drag racing. So this will come down to what is being driven, which turbo he has, and is he telling the truth. The from a roll thing is completely possible, though - my STi from a roll (on race gas) is faster than what my old 422-powered Z28 was.

I think your gonna be ok at the track on the juice. Just hook, and you'll be fine.

you have a good chance if you Spray, but to be honest your mods aren't all that good.

I'd have you beat by a car or two at the track. My best time is a 11.72 @ 121 (1.81 60') in my evo and thats only with 410whp and 425tq on 26lb of boost 91 octane and 100% meth injection. Thats on a stock 16g turbo.

The STI would be right around the Same power range on 21lbs

I have intake, Exhaust, Standalone Ems, meth injection, and Upgraded Intercooler, and Boost controler.

back when i was stock i was cutting 1.6's consitantly now that my clutch is on the way out it's harder and harder but assuming i can do it when my new one goes in i should be around 11.4-11.6.

BTW i'm on baby cams, i'm stepping up to race casm and 20-30 more WHP in a week or so.

formula- I'd be careful about running him. IF he truly is running an aftermarket turbo it well depend on his driving skills. It's pretty funny, but I'm running 21psi on a stock turbo and falling to 16psi @ redline. IF he is really pushig 21psi with an aftermarket turbo, he's NOT falling to a lower #. I'd try to find out what turbo he's running and I highly reccomend spraying..... IF what you say is true.

If those times in your sig are correct you should have a close race when you are sprayed. You should definately win with the spray and the cutout. My friend has an '04 STi that's pretty heavily modded (full exhaust, big front mount intercooler, boost controller, a tune, and some other goodies) but he's still on the stock turbo. I don't know hi awhp but its gotta be close to 400 or so. Last season he ran a 12.62 with a 2.0 60ft in the 1/4 mile.
Good luck with the race.

Ouch! A 2.0 60ft.!! He could have ran a better than a 12.6 if he got a better launch. It will depend more on the track prep as well. If the prep is bad where you live, the race is in your favor.
