Default How will I come out ?

I have a guy with a manual 02' vette wanting to run for cash says its stock.
I have a 99' Z28 with a few mods. Wich are 3.73's,lid,ported TB,Tune, and some nitto's to get me off the line.

Is their anything that I might need to add for extra get up?
Thanks in advance.

Couple of Q's:

1. Are you A4 or M6?
2. How good a driver are you both?
3. How much money is the race for?
4. What distance are you racing over?
5. Do you have any track times?
6. When you say "02 Vette" I assume you mean reguular C5 and not Z06? Else it's Vette - easy win.

Potentially (according to the bench racing stats), the Corvette has the ability to be a high 12's car, but then again so does your car.

In simple terms you probably have slight more HP but they weigh slightly less.

IMO your best bet it to go from a dig, because if they are stock they will be on run flats and you have Nitto's, plus the 3.73 gears should help.

If the race is for any sort of decent amount, I'd say go get yourself a 100 shot of Nitrous, that way you'll win easy and the winnings should pay for the NOS kit

Pick up a little advantage by cleaning out all the junk
you can, beforehand; weight reduction is free, at least
some of it. Find some place to practice the launch on
the tires and conditions you expect to see, the launch
is where F-bodies have some advantage.

Do the free mods- de-screen maf, Free ram air, egr tube chop. drive the car for 50+ miles after the mods to let the computer learn and take advantage of the extra air flow.

Like Jimmy blue said ditch the spare, jack, and buy some air freshener... strawberry. Eat some Taco Bell before you race too, it helps.

Thanks for the info.
I am an a4, Pretty decent driver, The race will be from a dig 1\8 or 1\4 not sure yet, It is going to be for $500,No I dont have any track times yet.
Also I have done out ran a 05' vette but it was for no cash and the driver wasnt real good, I took him three car lengths but got most of that off the line. Then he was stuck play'n catch up we ran for a 1\2 mile from dig. He came by me when I jit my rev limiter in D at 120 mph.
Thanks agin for the info and any other info is greatly appreciated, Thanks

Lets just assume your 99 Z28 a4 had the 2.73 gears...

A typical time for a Fbody with the 2.73's is 13.6 (some run 13.2)

A typical time for the 02 mn6 C5 is 13.2 (some run 12.8)

Your nittos alone can easily turn your 13.6 into a 13.3 (or better)

Your lid can turn that 13.3 into a 13.2 EASILY

Your 3.73's turn that 13.2 into a 12.9 EASILY

Your ported throttle body and tune are EASILY good for 12.8

YOUR CAR SHOULD WITHOUT A DOUBT BE A 12.6-12.8 CAR

His car at best with stick shift eddie driving is a 12.7...But more than likely without being a factory freak or a professional driver driving is the typical 13.0-13.2..

You should hand him his A** from a stop...

If he has Dr's or slicks though it will be very close...But I would still give you the edge by a tenth....

WHATEVER you do DONOT race him from a roll.....

Your A4 is hard to find the correct powerband in compared to his mn6....

And your gears arent exactly great on an A4 for highway rolls...

It would still be close but he has a much greater chance of winning at these higher speeds..

NOW GO SPANK HIM SO WE GET ANOTHER C5 GUY TO START MODDING!!!!!

For $500 race I still say get the NOS. Unless you really mess up you will be guaranteed the win and the winnigs will have paid for your NOS kit

Plus you'll have the satisfaction of winning

Getting a nitrous kit would be pointless. Chance are if you do, he won't race you for money. He probably won't even bother racing at all unless you dont spray. That would defeat the whole purpose of even getting one. Just go race him and get it over with.
