Ls1 vs 97 Cobra hey guys i got a quik question...My buddy just bought a 1997 Mustang Cobra and its stock but it still makes 305poines and 300tq and its 5-speed. and i got a 02 Z28 auto with 2.73's and i have a lid and cut-out. Me and my buddy wants to know who would win from a dig and a roll(30mph)(not saying were gonna go race on the street...we just want a idea)

Once you put those headers and ory in with cutout open you'd probably take him. He might overtake you eventually, but you have the advantage of a much flatter torque curve, as well as the fact that a lot of bonestock ls1's put down more power than what you're saying he has. Your lid, cutout and headers should help even more.

been there before...
You have roughly 300whp, he has around 260-270 ish...He'll stick with you until you get into 3rd, then you'll walk him pretty good...
They're about equal to an LT1...

really? that big of a differace? his car seems pretty fast but i guess it feels faster cause of the 5-speed. but yeah before spring i'll have my Long tubes and ory with Hooker and mayyyybbbeee my 3200 stall. but if not i'll just have just have LT's, ory, hooker and a lid.
oh btw he'll have orh-pipe and either borla or spintech and K&N CAI and pro 5.0 short throw.....should i still be concerned if he has those mods before me? and what about after?

don't worry about what he does...as long as he doesn't throw a S/C on there you'll be ok...They don't really do much NA, unless they spend a good amount of money...
you'll be ok, trust me...
I had a 96 Cobra with BBK LT's, ORX, Flowmaster, CAI, MSD coils and wires...and i got beat by a stock 98 C5 auto...Got him out of the hole, but by the time i reached 80 he caught me, and then put some ground after that...
