Default 97 Cobra taste good

I was on the freeway going home after the track when a late 90's cobra gives me the rev...

We line up and do the 3 beep..I instantly jump a car on him and then between 70-120 mph I put a good 7-10 cars on him and shut down...

He comes up again trying to do a fly bye and I stopp his pull and let him read CORVETTE again....

Well I was expecting more from the Cobra but Oh well

So a week later im at the drag strip and this guy comes up to me and tells me he has the cobra that raced me on the freeway...

Turns out it's a stock 97 Cobra and his best bone stock ET is a 14.1( yes my track is slow) my best bone stock was 13.5...So even if we had both been stock it would have been pretty bad..But with my mods it was a massacre.

The guy couldnt even look me in the eye when he was talking to me and starts saying how he knows his car is slow but he's just a college kid and it will be fast some day...

I told him not to worry about it and that there is always someone faster( the guy really seemed hurt...what'd he expect against a C5 anyway though)

I explained to him that I pull the stock 03 cobras on the freeway without a problem and he shouldnt worry about it unless he was modded too so it would be fair. (stock 03 Cobras run 13.2-13.4 at my track) track goes uphill.

Hopefully that will be the spark that has one more american car being made faster...

Yea he kept looking down and wouldnt look me in the eye man..probally has beaten a lot of cars with the stock cobra. 14.1 at my track is very respectable. Thats close to what the stock mach1's run. Maybe a tenth slower than them stock for stock so his car is defiently faster than lots of cars out there.

I kinda know were he's coming from though. That same day at the track there was an EVO owner who drove by and gritted on me. So i went up to him and asked him what his car ran. He said 12.1 at 110 mph. Now our mph's are close so a freeway run would go eighter way.

But at the track with his AWD and me on street tires he is a good 8 tenths faster than me. I had a hard time looking him in the eye as well and had to start talking about how my cars on street tires and my cams not tuned instead of manning up and just saying he has the faster car.

I went out and checked the hawaii EVO boards and sure enough this guy has the fastest EVO in Hawaii. Thats why he was gritting on me. And I like the cobra owner reacted the same way.

What's the DA in Hawaii? 14.1 respectable? I think that kid was being a man to come up to you after he lost. Props to him. I hope you didn't act as cocky talking to him as you did writing your thread. Good kill. -Mark

14.1 respectable? thats a whole second off fromt he best driven 97 cobra i ever saw, 13.2, this kid could DRIVE tho. 14.1 is what my year cobra (94) pulled once or twice with an amazing driver, mid to high 14s otherwise. Is the DA that bad?

Guys his 14.1 at my track is very good. The fastest bone stock 03 cobra at my track only went 13.2..

The fastest bone stock 02 Viper only went 12.7..

Never even seen a stock 02 Z06 hit a 12 second pass. Usually 13.0or 13.1

My track's DA is 1500 on average but thats not that big of a deal. The track goes slightly up hill..

Thats why everyone is 3-5 tenths slower at my track stock than they are in the mainland. And the imports are even slower at my track. There 4-6 tenths slower because they have less tourque and have a harder time dealing with the incline..

So his 14.1 would be ATLEASTE a 13.8 or better at a track in the mainland.

But that dosent matter. We ran at the same track in the same constant hawaiian conditions..

My 2.73 geared auto was 6 tenths faster than his manual non SC cobra stock for stock..

Too make you cobra guys happy my friends stock 03cobra was a tenth quicker than my stock vette..

Another SC cobra ran a 13.2 ( current fastest stock cobra at my track) that was a solid 3 tenths faster than my 2.73 geared c5. And only 1-2 tenths behind the better z06 drivers. So stop your whining..

And realize that a non supercharged Cobra is a lot slower than a C5 and will be beat. Big Deal. You guys should have already known that????????????

Well he was a college kid talking to another guy with an 04 Vette. If I were the kid I would feel lower with a Mustang than a guy with a nice newer Vette that just whooped my ***.

Besides some people have a hard time with eye contact. I know I do.

Avoidance of eye contact is normally caused by discomfort with a social setting/feelings of self-consciousness and possibly indicative of feelings of low self esteem/guilt/or embarassment. It stems from the childish idea of "if i cant see you, you cant see me" and even though we are adult in mind, the inner child is still saying "I cant see you, so im hiding" even though the logical side of your brain knows better. It is a way of staying in your comfort zone in a situation you do not feel comfortable in. Much like htat special blanket we all had....

Got to love Hawaii! A beautiful place for sure.

Does the track shift during the year to your advantage?

Must be the buoyancy. Just messing with ya, lol.

Yeah, makes sense... Im not social unless Im with real close friends.

Hell, as much as I would like to hang out with the F Body crowd here in Finland, I dont know if I will... dont know why either, I dont spend much time on their boards... etc, Id rather stick around here where I am comfortable.
