Default Raced a 03 Cobra

A guy I know has a 03 Cobra and thinks its the best car ever built. He got the car about two months ago and it had a Basani-X pipe and cat back exhaust. He went to go dyno the car and it put down 390 rwhp and 374 rwtq. I thought those where really strong numbers. Every now and again he would drive buy in a low gear and rev at me and I just give him the nod and just drive on my way. A couple of weeks ago he bought a new throttle body and k&n cold air intake. He tells me his car should be pushing about 415 rwhp which I dont dobut. So yesterday we happened to be on the freeway. He reved at me so I said what the hell lets see what happens. I reved at him back. We where going about 50 MPH He honked three times. We both punched it at the same time. At the begining of second I pulled a half a car lenght. by about the middle to the end of second he pulled the half back. Then I went into third gear pulled the half a car back. And stayed that way throught thrid gear we had to shut down because of cops. We pulled in at the gas station and the only thing I said way your car pulls really hard. I think it pissed him off more because all he could say was " Im getting a pulley". It was a good race I have lots of respect for those cars but, just kinda thinking he should have walked me with those numbers.

Honestly, it sounds like he needs the "better driver mod" more than a pulley.

Good kill.

He should have pulled on you a little bit but you stayed with him. I think you won because you are a better driver.

Not only could he be a better driver, but also, factor in weight too. I'm not surprised by the out-come. Anything can happen. Good kill mate

The weight isn't much different. The Cobra's weigh in at 3650 lbs, what do F-bodies weigh?
Anyway, good kill! You guys have the same torque numbers. If the race would have went much longer he probably would have caught you though. Is you car an auto.? Do you still have the stock gears?
That's what I love about the street....its those wins that make all that mod $$ seem justified.

Good driving dude. dont back down to the cobras they try to punk me all the time. I stilll race them. They usually walk me not much but they do when I get my cam installed I will race them all again and see how close it is. Never die, never quit, never surrender. By the way the 03 cobras are expensive man went to autotrader and the cheapest was for 22000 dollars and it was an 03. I saw a 02 TA for 14000 what the heck thats to much of a price difference for one year. Considering the power difference. You can buy a cam and slap a supercharger on your car and still not get close to 22000. I like them but way to much. Not enough bang for the buck.

That actually sounds about right judging from your mods and dyno numbers. Before the LS6 and ported TB, I tied one from a 40 roll to the end of my 4th gear on a hot summer night. He had a passenger and I didn't. With the stock pulley, they're beatable as even long tube headers don't make that much of a difference. But that all changes with a pulley and a ported blower. A stage IV ported eaton from Steigmeir with a 2.76 upper and 4lb lower with supporting mods and a good tune will push them past the 500rwhp mark with a Kansas like torque curve.

Unit 213 may chime in as he has a Kenne Belle Cobra. Having owned an LS1 and now a Cobra, he's pretty familiar with both and isn't biased when comparing the 2.

I have had both too. Kick his *** like 5 times and just DO NOT race him unless its from a stop through 3rd when he gets the pulley and tune, WAY different car then. Stock they are dogs. Good kill. Its only 150-200lb weight difference give or take. Go get a GREAT cam man!

My car is a M6 and I still have stock gears. I was kinda of wondering what would happen if we did a 30 MPH roll would the out come be the same or not. I dont think he will race me again but who knows. I think I could kill him from a stop will just have to wait and see. I will let yall know what happens if we race again. Thanks for the support and responses. One more question would the cam and heads offset his pulley or would he just walk me silly?
