a friend at school wants to race me in his old nova that he races at the track, he wants to race for 100 dollars tho, and it will probably be from a roll, all i knw is that he has 3.73 gears and a cam'd motor not sure wat cubes he says he runs 8.40s in the 1/8th on et streets

does it sound fishy if he wants to race for $$$ and what do yall think my best 1/8 is like 8.6 with shitty tires and the old clutch?

how much do these things weight?

Yes it sounds fishy, it may be a POS or it could be a rip snorting kick *** car, you just never know.
I've seen a guy with a 70 (I think) Nova go low 11's and it looks like a complete POS that'd be lucky to make it a 1/4 mile, but he's put all his $$$ into go fast mods
If he wants to run just do it for bragging rights and no cash, until you find out more about the car I'd say no to a money race

if you're racing from a roll, simply ask him what he traps. if he is honest, that will tell the winner of a roll race. i run high 7s in the 1/8, but i depend on the first 60'...i've seen cars go 8.40s trapping more than i do.

You should be able to take him from a roll if he set up his car for drag racing, but I could be wrong. Good Luck!
