What are my chances?
Hey guys,
I just bought a 99' z28. I just purchased an slp loudmouth cat-back for it. My friend has a 97' cobra with a MAC cat-back, 4-10 gears and 17x9.5 rims with 295 tires. If i put 3-73 gears in my car with 17x11 rims and 315 tires, do you think I could take him? Also mines an auto and his is manual. Anybody have any sugestions on the right shift kit for me?

Try search and check the stickies. This thread will probably be locked.
As for the race - could go either way although you have more power. It's probably close enough for a drivers race but IMO adv Fbody.
Shiftkit = Transgo
You want a stall also ~3400rpm
Gears may not be so critical and depends on future intent.
Tyres with a taller sidewall will work better for drag racing, also Drag Radials are good.
The 255/50R16 Mickey Thompson Street Radial is a great tyre for Fbody's and with a good auto setup are capable of pulling 1.5-1.6 second 60' at the 1/4 mile.

Dude, are you joking? My buddy had one with 4.30's, longtubes, CAI, and he BARELY walked me in my '94 25th with a cutout and CAI. Oh and my car was an auto with 3.23's. Take him down, then race an '03/'04 and see how HUGE the gap is in performance between the two, .
