My 04 GTO vs brand new Mustang GT
My 04 GTO M6 is stock except for exhaust... I was in a left turn lane to jump on the freeway when a brand new nice lookin white Mustang GT goes by, and stops at the light to go straight. My buddy thats with me asks me if my GTO can beat the Mustang. I said "it sure should be able to, lets find out haha". I pull 2 lanes to the right and pull right next to him at the light. The Mustang guy had a buddy behind him in a black Prelude and the Prelude guy was flashing him his brights (im assuming to say go for it?) So I look at him and he looks over at me, the light turns green, and neither of us punch it...we just take of normal and get up to about 10 MPH, then wahlah we both nail it. Im in first gear and I assume his was an automatic. Through my first gear it was fairly even, i pulled him by about 4 feet. I was thinking that when I shifted to second he might get even, but nope, I hit second and pulled him hard and got to like a foot in front of him when we both had to slow down for a red light. I was happy with my GTO, cuz I was pullin him hard and it was just gonna get worse for him. Thats my first race and it was fun.

Yeah I was stunned at first, we were head to head the first couple seconds, and I had thought, Im racing a 300 HP Mustang it shouldn't be even close...but like I said when I hit second I pulled pretty hard. Thanks:-)

I believe the BEST Evan Smith got from one was like 13.1 or 13.2.. the car did go 12s with DRs I believe. Ive never seen a verified 12 second pass from a mach 1. Doesn't mean its not possible... but I would need to see some kind of proof to believe it after seen what Evan did with one.
Here are some mag times... and the Evan Smith pass....
Evan Smith--MM/FF Mar03 (NJ) Gray-- 5spd--- 2.07, 13.135 @ 105.51 * Stock
Paul Svinicki--5.0/SF Apr03 (MI) Black- 5spd--- n / a, 13.29_ @ 105.13 O Shifter
Jack Keebler----M/T Dec02 (n/a) Red-- 5spd--- n / a, 13.80_ @ 102.5_ * Stock
Tom Wilson--5.0/SF Apr03 (NV) Yellow 5spd--- n / a, 13.82_ @ 101.01 * Stock

The GTO is tough to launch compared to a stang. Especially the new ones..they seem to cut sub 2.0 60fts without much trouble.

I'm not calling BS or anything, but I am really interested and would love to see a magazine article or some other form of reputable proof of a stock Mach 1 running 12's. Cheers

Somehow i doubt it. Even a sub 13.5 is beyond what id expect as the norm for a mach.

yea those mustang gt's are quite torquey down low due to the gearing. i was just at island dragway and i swear every single new gt, whether it was stock or modified, chirped HARD into second.
