Lol this guy thinks his gtp is the badest car, he has some boost guages on it i think its a 2000 wants to race my m6 2000 ss camaro black! My buddy said he has like 490 horse or something like that i didnt believe him i said i would race him for a $100. My car is stock right now what r your thoughts?? I honestly do not believe he has close to 500 horse! should i do a dig or a 40 mph roll in 3rd gear? Should i try and grab some cheap mods? I am getting an oil change tomorrow

he would have to do quite a bit of work to have even 400+... and trust me if that car has close to 500 HP u will know it... I havent never found these cars to be a threat to me even in my old srt-4 and i was stock.... i had a friend that kept modding his GTP and racing me everytime he got something done to try and see if he would pull ahead... never happened he even raised the boost and some other minor things lol... i dont think a GTP is a big threat to a ls1... Unless they have put major work into it.. its pretty hard gettin those cars into the low 13s

well before you race him learn how to drive. who starts a 40 roll in 3rd? 40 roll is a dead spot in second and pretty high up in rpms in first.

Well first off an oil change is not a mod. starting out in 3rd gear going 40mph is ridiculas, should at the highest be in 2nd. Make sure you have a hundred dollars, and just go find out. Like someone said he could have the fastest GTP in the world for what you know about his setup. Buy some nitrous for safety and call it a day and go get your ben franklin. And you must be somewhat worried about the car or else you would not have posted this.........

Three people I work with have GTP's,, there all in the 12's, two of them are low 12's. Remember any car can be made fast, find out what your racing or you better have a $100 in your wallet just in case. And since he is wanting to race you so bad and for money, he is either really fast or really stupid!

haah. all i can say is if your stock dont talk any trash about a silly GTP. they can be turned into low 13 second cars Easily and 12s isnt to hard for them either.

not to mention if its turboed. and if thats the case your gonna be 100 dollars shorter anythow. and their are a crap load of turbo GPs running around these days. if the guy know what he is doing. more than likely he is already faster than a stock ls1.

ask him what pulley size he has. if its a 3.2 or lower be ready to probly be beat or close to it. and ive seen plenty of GTPs run 2.0 60fts. FWD isnt impossible to launch.

run him but dont exspect to much if the guy has actually modded the GTP.

i raced a GTP with a smaller pulley on it and a few other mods in my stock srt-4 and once i caught grip there was no problem passing him... I guess ppl down here dont know how to drive the GTPs like everyone else cuz i never seen one worth a race against a LS1... lowest ever has been a 13.7 this is in MO on a nice day.... But who knows

You might just be surprised. Like mentioned, you obviously don't know much about the car or it's potential. I'll even go so far as to point out that your stock LS1 could run anywhere between a 12 to a 15 second quarter mile.

Just race him and see what happens. Ask him to show what he has then get back with us. If he's modded chances are that someone else knows what he's got. Ask around.

The first pulley drop for GTP's is to a 3.4 or 3.5. Those pulleys with a larger down pipe and an intake can yield a high 13 second pass. Put a 75 shot of nitrous or alky injection on that and it will be in the low 13's.

I run around with a 2.7 pulley on my car, that's intercooled, cammed, headers, tuned, ect ect. I'm looking for an 11 sec pass this fall. Ask him what size pulley he has on it. And don't forget some grand prixes might say GTP on the side but have a 70mm turbo under the hood! Anyway, good luck and race his ***!

I used to have a GTP and I think it was faster than my LS1. I never had either at the track, but that thing had an assload of torque.


I had a 3.0 Pulley with headers and rockers along with a sick Devils Own Progressive Methanol Injection kit. I suprised a lot of people with a stock interior/exterior minus my hidden boost gauge and the progressive controller.
