Default e55 vs. t/a

alright, this wasnt that eventful, i cant lie, but it really pissed me off at the end, and not because of the results. we lined up, i had no intentions of racing, in fact i didnt even look at the guy or the car. light turns green, and he launches like crazy and hauls *** right up to the next red light. i caught the line with him again, my attitude changed. i knew i wouldnt beat him, but i knew i could launch on him sick-like which is exactly what happend i got about a car on him and he took over from there, big time!! once again, i caught another light with him. and what i saw got me so angry i cant even begin to tell you, i wanted to get out of my car and beat the hell out of this guy. sitting in his back seat was a little baby and another child who was probably about five. trust me guys if i had seen that any earlier i would never have even tried to race him. i dont care if you are in a mercedes amg e55 or in some other super luxury car and your some le mans driver, that is soo stupid, no one knows what could come up. street racing is fun yes, but it is still unsafe and not a place for your children, not while they are in the car anyways. i honestly dont like racing with my friends in the car, if something were to happen, god forbid, i dont wanna be responsible for what happens to my friend. im sorry but when i saw those kids, i gave that guy a BIG thumbs down. he deserved it in my book. i just had to vent a little.

the kids in the backseat of that car are probably safer than the people on the sidewalk who get hit by people who lose it while street racing.

Until the idiot looses control and hits a wall....then the "safety" factor of being in the back seat diminishes

If the road was dry and he only went up to 10mph over the speed limit, was it still dangerous? Just a hypothetical question. I'm curious what your opinions are.

well in my opinion i dont think it would be all that bad, if your kids arent in the car. not to mention that in the city i live in, there is no such thing as a straight road (which sometimes isnt bad), and in this case it wasnt just ten miles an hour over, i was doing 65 when i let off, (speed limit was 45) but before i let off, he was pullin on me like crazy. he must have been doin over 75-80 on a curvy street whose speed limit is only 45.

Indeed, on street tires too.

I guy down here runs one all the time. It runs constant 12.2s/12.3s on street tires. I always laugh because he trailers it in.

Nice job for sticking a thorn in his side with a good launch.

What a douchebag merc driver. props to the car and hell no props to that driver, this is maybe flamebait, but i think if he got little ones in car seats and he's being reckless like that, some blinking cherries deserve a phone call.

I am confused..if you are trying to defend the guy racing with his kids in the car.. you used a TERRIBLE example to do so...

E55's haul ***! No doubt about it. Pretty stupid with kids in the car. The new 07' E63's are even faster. N/A 6.3L V8 with a lil over 600hp.

I raced some dude in a drop top 04 Cobra a couple years ago... we ended up both going to the same car show (and took the bottle off the floorboard where it was heating up and put it in the back) and asked him if he wanted to run from a stop for some money...

Then I look down and the guy has his kids with him and before he can say anything I say nevermind if I had nkow he'd had his kids with him I wouldn't have been doing 120 on the freeway with him. Idiot.

Actually, they're not. The 63's are rated at 507hp compared to the E55's (somewhat underrated) 469hp. Several 63's have dyno'd in the 380-410rwhp range and there is suspicion that they're a bit overrated.
Acceleration-wise, the 63 is working with a 7-speed auto, the 55 with a 5-speed auto. Both have the ability to manually shift and automatically shift in "sport" and "comfort" mode. It seems the jury is still out regarding which is quicker, but the 55 has more torque and is pretty explosive out of the hole for a stock, 4000lb. sedan.
Awesome cars...either of them.

My bad i didn't look at the window sticker before i wrote. They're both awesome and from driving them it almost seemed like the 63 was better outta the hole. Just my opinion I'm sure it could go either way. Only way to really find out is line 'em up.
