Default Ran an LT1 Bird

Ran a guy that works with me at my shop. He has an LT1 firedbird with Pacesetters, True Duals, Comp Cam 224/230 and Cold Air.

Race #1- 20mph Roll... three honks... he hung with me through 1st... through 2nd... then 3rd i got some traction and i pulled about a car on him... shut down halfway through 4th maybe a little past and had about 1-2 cars on him.

Race #2- 40mph roll... three honks... he hung with me through second... same situation.. got traction... pulled 1-2 cars on him.

I was happy with this since my car is running rich as hell and very little traction. After race #2 i had my window open and all my homework found its way out my window hehe. Nice bird... cool guy.

If yo uare un-tuned you probably gained maybe 10-15whp through that exhaust. My friend in his LS2 GTO only gained 15whp with a Corsa and LT's before a tune. Damn!!! impressive!!! I CANT WAIT TO GO LS1 !!!

I'm almost having a difficult time believing this, but not. Cammed LT1's go pretty good, but it's probably a decent match for a full exhaust LS1. I dunno. I have barely had my car out enough to know, plus it's not tuned too well.

i would have to call a little bs on this one as well i just recently installed pacesetter LT's on my car and its not even tuned yet and have given several ls1 cars a real scare

i would hope that a lt1 with headers an fairly decent cam and a decent tune would take care of an ls1

Well if hes a member on this board ill ask him so speak up but this is no bs. And like i said.. i barely pulled him. He says he has some traction issues, his car sounds great though. I thought i would be pulled on.. i dont know about "smoked" but pulled. According to his friend he can drive well and i guesse i didnt mention his car is an M6 like mine. I've been told my car runs really strong for an LS1 (when it was stock) and i am a good driver.

Also he claimed his car was tuned for mid-grade gas not premium since premium prices around here have been really bad until lately they dropped alot. If you wanna call bs go for it.. but it isnt.. im not saying that maybe there wasnt drivers error but he didnt miss any shifts and i was not fly-shifting i let off the gas each time but i am pretty fast either way.

When i finished my plug change last week (cracked plugs doing header install) and took my car for a spin it felt like it was pulling so ******* hard and now im having a lot more traction issues.

Lets not start a BS shouting fit.. the races happened exactly as i described them and the other driver will confirm that.

A LT1 with those mods should pull an LS1 with yours.... But on that particular day..... you won! Good kill. If he gets his issues fixed the race will be in his favor. DO NOT underestimate LT1s

With stock internals I am running a 12.8 on motor and a 12.2 on the spray. For your car to run a cammed LT1 and win....something is funny on that one to me.

Good Kill! Traction is the key in racing without that anything can happen. My cammed LT1 Gets beat from time to time by my buddys Slightly modded low 13 sec LS1 because i can't grab traction, And my cam is some what bigger then the one in that bird.

i had the same thing happen, i ran a friends lt1 z and he told me it had a cam and long tubes and no tune, we went from a roll (his choice), i pulled on him and he stayed back, and of course you had the usual people calling b.s., but if i'm dynoing 318hp @333tq in a stripper m6 i don't see why it doesn't seem possible to some

Honestly a cam and no tune in LT1's makes for some not impressive numbers.
