3000 GT?? Anybody race one??
I was driving through the main strip in town, when a 3000 GT flys by me. So i play catch up and by this time we are heading out toward the main highway going about 40mph side by side. I am way out of my powerband so i wasn't going to race and he suddenly takes off and i was like damn... I don't think there was anyway i could beat that thing, maybe from a dig, but damn.. How fast are these things, just curious if anyone has raced one?

Well I assume it was the turbo model you speak of. There are 2 other 3000GT models (base and SL) both which are slow as almightly hell. The VR4 model runs high 13s stock and is very heavy. However, with some small bolt-ons they can be prety quick. So basically, it really depends on how modded it is, if at all. If he is stock, you two would be a close race.

I ran a 1992 VR-4 with a different exhaust, and a manual boost controller when I lived in Colorado. My car was bone stock at the time. From a dig Yeah, slaughtered. He whipped my *** by 3+ cars every time. From a roll, I stayed even with him and pulled maybe a fender.
They can definitely be quick.

Also, keep in mind, the 90-92 VR4s had 300hp (around 250whp) with a 5spd while the 93-98s had 320hp (270whp) and 6speeds. The 93+VR4s are noticeable quicker from a both roll and stop than the 90-92s. They are easily distinguishable by the front end. The 90-92 had pop ups while 93+ did not.

There are some really long threads about this like a year ago too IIRC. General consensus from people who actually ran them was that a 3KGT was right between LT1s and LS1s in stock trims.

Don't underestimate. Yes his car weighs around 3750 w/o driver but the car is torquey and will get out of it's own way. Most Vr4's rolling around all fast like that are probably at least BPU (400 at the crank)

I raced one up a curvy hill one day on my way to work. It was pulling on me hard, but I would've taken him, if it weren't for my sloppy shocks at the time. That thing was pretty fricken fast, though. When we stopped at the light, the guy was cool and said his car runs 9's but his clutch was slipping. He gave me a thumbs up, I gave him thumbs up and then I finally heard his blowoff valve, as he rolled away.
I was by myself in my bolt-on LS1, while he had his girlfriend (who probably added another 100lbs to that already heavy-*** car).
From what I understand, you've gotta have a lot of money to mod one of those things, too.

And it does not take a whole lot of money to make them fairly quick (11-12 second passes). If you are looking for ten second time slips however expect a good investment and lots of headaches.
