Default Nissan Maxima trying to play with the big boys....

alright so im driving last week to my friends school to visit. I see blue headlights flying up from behind. Im just cruising along and this guy pulls up next to me starts reving and stuff... so i look over and him and his boy are trying to egg me on. I just wave out the window no man like you dont want to race. So he takes that as i yes i guess? I honestly couldnt tell if he was reving again or racing cause it made the loud bumble bee noise but wasnt moving until like 3 seconds later. He then proceedes to cut me off so i jam my breaks on meanwhile im still just cruising in 6th at 1300k. So a few miles down the road he slows down and waits for me to come up again. Now there is no cars in front of us at all nothing... He pulls right next to me and i see him and his friend laughing... Now im starting to get a little mad, so i give him a wave again this time just telling him yea man go ahead. I hear the bumble rev again, i rev up drop it to 3rd and was OUT. took it to about 130. I slowed back down and i waited about 10 minutes or so for him to catch up again. he just kept going past me like nothing happened... CLASSIC sorry i had to let him have it at that point hahahaha

Nice! Maybe if we do that to every ricer we encounter they will learn that they don't even belong on the same road as us...........no, nevermind, they will never learn.

He might as well actually get out and "walk" your car...results wouldn't be much different if he was in his turbo Minima versus him on foot.

Maximas in general are not slow cars they are quick for the day. The new ones have some pep and are a decent all around car. But no way in hell they are in the same league as an ls1-lt1 f-body I don't know why those guys even bother

Good kill. I wish people would learn that certain cars aren't meant for racing. I would use a maxima to transport a family......not race an Fbody

They are good cars, just not for racing or Hot Rodding. They can look real nice...But they are family wagons...Oh well...Great kill

There can be some fast ones too. There's a few turbo ones putting down over 350whp. Just like anything, it's just takes money to make anything quick.

Man, I HATE it when people think that you are racing when you are not, then they smash the throttle and get ahead of you and then in their heads they think its a "win".

NICE!... here is another one that works well with their egos...

Speed up with them and keep pacing until they hit their speed limiter...then wave and leave them sitting there... lol

yeah maximas are slow stock. the new ones have the same engine as the 350z just in fwd configuration and about 30 less hp. The older ones had the n/a 300zx engine in them. The new ones are actually decent for a big family car. Possible high 14's in them. but no match for a stock ls1, much less a modded one haha good kill.

Not to sound like an *******, but the 02-03 Maxima's stock run low 14's, and mid 14's auto. The older one's (95-99) in 5pd form run high 14's, low 15's. Someone ran a best of 14.5 stock in one though. The newer one's, stock for stock would be a good race for a stock LT1 but even a slightly modded LT1(like CAI only)/stock LS1 is a waste of gas for the f-body. There are quite a few with 350whp belive it or not, and I think the fastest Maxima was knocking on 10's before he decided to sell it.

Now I am in NO WAY comparing them to f-body's, but year for year, starting from 95, they outran everything the import world had to offer save the very top rung (and even a few of those). I think the closest comparison to one (the 95-99's) would be an SHO, and those are some pretty good cars.

I agree...my wifes old 02 maxima felt like it would take my buddies lt1 t/a to 60...after that the race would be all t/a. I was going to build up her car (before I got my own t/a), but did enough research to know that it wasn't worth the money or effort. Eventually we got rid of the car and got a v6 accord...nicer car but not near the power of the maxima.

Run what you brung.

What did the auto one's run stock (95-99)? I raced my friends friends 97 max bone stock (so he said) and only beat him by about 6 cars from 0-75 mph. I guess that's beating him prety bad, but not as bad as would have hoped (I wish he would have stayed on it longer because I was pulling harder and harder).

And to Lemonhead, way to go.
