Default First loss

Just got my first loss aganist a 2003-2006 Dodge Viper. My friend noticed the car coming and I knew I had to race it no matter how bad I lost. There where no cars around and the light up ahead turned red. He got there first and I was slowing down and then the light turned green, Dropped it sraight to first and gunned it. I was even with him in first, but once he got to second, he started pulling and left off. It was very exciting even though I lost in the end. I think my friends don't think so lowly of my car anymore.
P.S. I manually shifted my automatic, because if left in D or OD, it will only rev to 3,000-4,000 RPM and then stay there or shift up.

I got no idea what wrong with the tranny. The man who rebuilt it said the Tranny had "half of a shift kit" and a "higher end torque convertor". I'm guessing who ever had the car before wanted it to run like a Manual Valve body car but still be able to shift by itself.
