Default SS vs. 5.0 mustang

I saw this guy at a car show in my hometown. He had a electron blue 5.0 with a tall cowl hood and big wheels on the back and skinnies up front. He had autometer gauges under the cowl. Although I don't care for most mustangs (except 03-04 Cobras which I love), he did a pretty good job on this one. We lined em up from a stop on a long highway. I thought it would be a good race since his car looked like it had a lot of work done, but turns out it was mostly cosmetic. Light went green and I spun pretty bad, we were neck and neck while I was spinning but once I hooked up I started to put lengths on him. I was fairly happy with the SS's performance. I spin too much. How can I address that problem?

Yeah, 5.0's can be dirt slow or really quick. Good kill!

Unless your dumping it off the line you shouldn't have too much trouble controlling a stockish f-bod. But at any rate, mount up a set of Nitto drag radials and that will make a tremendous difference.

Nice kill on the 5.0. Those are so unpredictable..they can look fast and be stock slow or look bone stock and surprise the heck out of you.

That's for damn sure. My last race I had was against a kid with with a 5.0 Fox GT. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but this car looked sad. Half the paint was faded and the other half was in primer, it had the old-school stock wheels that they put on some of the first Fox-Bodies, and just dirty as hell. But I only kept a about half a fender on him, and it wasn't until about the top of third that I finally started to pull him!!!!

I never underestimate Fox-bodies (the worst betting I ever got was by one)

better tires will help ive heard new lca will too and i know lca relocation brackets will help alot. if you dont want to spring for a new torque arm get a new poly bushing for your stock one and learn to feather the clutch or gas pedal when you take off.
