03 Cobra vs 98+ TA...TA tries Flyby!!

Default 03 Cobra vs 98+ TA...TA tries Flyby!!

Last weekend we were on our way down to LA for a Fun Ford Weekend in Fontana, well as were on the freeway a TA I guess had been messing with my buddies Mach 1 behind us. The Mach wouldnt bite so he came after us. Lol, little did he know that Mach would have tore him up too if it wasnt for a bad tranny. Anyways, he flies by us and hits his brakes. Well I wasnt driving, my wife was so as he slows down I tell her to go after him. We had 3 people in the car and maybe 100+ pounds in the trunk (luggage and cleaning supplies etc) and he was alone. She didnt even shift down to 4th we were at a pretty good speed and he took off, once we got going we started pulling past him pretty easily, lol, he looked shocked for some reason. It was a bit dark so maybe he didnt notice it was a Cobra. Well after getting maybe 3-4 cars on him we start to let off and he floors it and tried to do a flyby, so my wife drops it down to 4th and puts a bus on him then lets off. We were going to wave as he came up then he pulled off the freeway. Oh well, it was cool to get a race in on an otherwise boring drive.

Almost got to run a Viper when we were in the LA area, I guess he had been revving on my buddies Mach (lol which was behind us again) then he flew by us and we took off after him, as we were reeling him in he pulled over then got in a turn lane, we slowed down and he waved so we waved back and went on our way, would have been nice to run him

it would of been nice if you would of downshifted and really showed him what you could do. that really would of made him feel bad

your buddy shouldve raced the TA..

I raced a 99+ Mach1 tonight and kicked its *** by a few cars.

I'm guessing the Mach1 was modified as much as your car?

He probably knew it was a Cobra, just not a KB.

Well yeah we could have downshifted but didnt really need too. As for my buddies Mach its got a bad tranny (actually it just blew the other day) But if his tranny was working I know he would have messed with him. He's got LT's, OR H Pipe, Catback, PNP Heads, Stg 3 Crower blower cams, 4.10's, K&N FIPK and a few other things. It was supposed to have been supercharged before we headed to the show but we ran out of time, he has a 03 Cobra Eaton awaiting install, we figure he should be at 500+ whp or so once its installed. Im gonna have to start modding my Cobra more before he catches up to me power wise Lol, well unless I just spray.

Nice runs Pete.....tell your wife that she did a nice job representin' the ladies.

BTW - the eaton will be pushing 500?.....and you need to mod to catch up? DANG IT......I haven't even done the P/C yet...and I already have to worry about forged and smaller pulley........

I kind of figured, but wasn't 100% sure. 03/04 was the only years for the sn95 machs. Honestly, I am surprised you 'kicked it's *** by a few lengths'. Then again...anything can happen on the street.

By 99+ i meant the body style.. not sure of what years they made Mach1s.. im not a huge mustang fan.

Yeah we figured with the other mods he has at about 8 psi he should be pushing 500 whp. What I said was he's closing in on me, I'll need to mod mine more so he doesnt catch me Im at 573whp and 605tq right now on a bad tune and I also have a NX kit that I need to install.

Nice kill. I get fly bys ALL the time..I dont even try to run em down anymore, gas aint free. Hey man, my 2.8 should be at HP by Hermann's Wed. I am driving up to meet him and get some other supplies next Sat. I will post up some pics! Your wife sounds like she can drive too, nice.

03 and 04 were the only years for the mach 1, and no way did a mach get a bus put on its just more bs both cars with any kind of bolt ons is a drivers race

Thanks guys, yeah my wife definitely loves to race. Her Z06 is going to start getting pretty serious soon. I may have to go twin turbo or something to keep up.

Jay...Thats sweet, definitely keep us posted. I had actually e-mailed Herman about a catch can for mine since I have the old style snout and they never e-mailed back I still need to get a better tune, this guy that tuned it last time sucks IMO. Im going to install my LT's and go back to an OR X and try running 17 psi, this guy Greg at a tuning shop down here said I would make the same or more power at 17 psi (I currently hit about 18psi, but I have the 17# and 4# pulley) This crappy 91 just kills me but I dont want to be adding race gas or methanol etc.

Hey man, with IAT temps much lower than with the Eatons I am running a minimum of 20lbs when I install the 2.8. If I were you I would crank it up to 19-20 and get Hermann or Rick at Amazon to tune it with SCT. Rick is AMAZING at tunes and when you pay once you can update at no additional cost as long as you use him!!

Actually, the SCT 2800 is VERY hard to tune from what they told me....could be one of the problems...

Hmm, interesting, that may be the problem. We had all kinds of problems with the new SCT software trying to get it to read the MAF. Maybe I'll go to teh 2400 and see if that helps. But I dont know how 20 psi will do on our 91. I originally wanted to run 21 psi. Thanks for teh info guys.

BTW...Yeah I have talked to Rick before, I may get a tune from him...We'll see.
