Default Supercharged Porche vs TA

1999 Supercharged Porche pulled up beside me at a redlight. Gave me a rev. . . We took off and were side by side the whole way other than me getting me by a nose at my 3rd gear shift red light to red light. We pulled over and talked. That guy was pissed his $40,000 car wasn't leaving me in the dust. I don't know if he just didn't know how to drive it or what. Because I thought it was going to plow me away. I also raced a 06 Dodge Viper yeah we all know what happened there. Blown away.

Could have been a Boxter S. I raced one on the highway from 50 to 110 and got him by a car and a half.....with an A4! Young guy with a hot blond....he wasn't too happy.

I never heard of a supercharged Porsche...I've heard of Turbo's but those come with a huge price tag. My last car was a Porsche aka babe magnet. Great car! Now I drive the pornstar car.

Yeah, never heard of a s/c'd Porsche, but plenty of turbos.

Porsches are *****-magnets, not necessarily the fastest. I wouldn't go as far as saying they're "overrated", because they're obviously fast and handle really well, just that they're not as fast as they people who buy them think and somebody really knows how to drive them to get the most out of them.

Porsches are usually owned by guys who want "store bought cool" and those types don't generally know how to really "drive" their cars. They just like to tool around in the jacket and gloves and pretend.

BTW, the only Porsche that's not "old" in the $40k range would be a Boxster, not even a Boxster S. Boxster's are just dressed up Miatas.

I work at a porsche dealership, and there are superchargers, they are aftermarket. I've have seen them on boxters 986, and 911 (996) And 40,000 will buy you a foot in the *** at a porsche dealer. Boxters start at 42.5k and nobody ever buys a base model. The guy with the suoercharged 911 said it made 500rwhp. I said show me the dyno graph, time slip, or stop talking to me. The new 997tt (which you can have for 142k) is real fast. I think mid 11's factory.

Thank you for your post. I seriously had never heard of a Porsche having a S/C. When I think of Porsche as far as performance the first thing that comes to mind is Turbo. I guess we all have a little more knowledge on S/C Porsches now.

I agree with you 100% except for the dressed up Miata quote. A Porsche is so well build compared to most other cars on the market. Precision is a german specialty. It is an expensive "slow" toy but perfect for the people who buy them. Do you really think having every nut out there with a 500HP car would be a good thing? I think the right quote is, all for show, not for go! All kidding aside, most Porsches are well balanced cars purpose built.

I think people were suprised when I would race them in the Boxster. I loved that little car but there was no power! It rode in rails and I would race anyone on a road course or back road but it had no juice on the straights. On the backroads it was a joy to drive. As for the Z06, backroads are fun, but a little more hair raising, if you know what I mean.
