bullitts are sort of a new style replica of a 60's movie with steve mcqueen, as far as i kno, correct me if i'm wrong, but they're a base GT with no spoiler and different rims. I think there was somethin like 5000 of them made, I'm pretty sure they even use the same motor as a GT, so pretty much nothin special. I've seen a few for sale around here, never really interested me much.
EDIT: rather important part i left out - in the movie steve mcqueen drove a mustang with no spoiler and different rims, he was pretty much untouchable in it, they just decided to make a special edition car of it. No new hardware as far as i know tho

It's not that he was so untouchable. It's the chase scene, with his muskrat and the brand new 68 charger. They actually used 2 mustangs, one with a 390 and 4spd, the other I believe a 289 auto. They never mention anything about the cars, it's the fact that it was the first reall good chase scene, using real cars, real drivers, real damage. The only thing that wasn't real was the sound. They dubbed in different engines for some stupid reason.

I'm also pretty sure there wasn't anything special about the nw bullitts, other then green, no spoiler, and painted TT2s.

It had a different intake manifold and catback i believe also....maybe even suspension but nothing incredibly different......still alot cooler than regular old GT's IMO

Pretty much correct. Nothing to be concerned with stock vs. stock for an LS1. A bullitt has maybe 5 to 8 more HP than a GT.

yeah that sounds about right. There is actually a more "in-depth" look at the differences right now at svtperformance.com in the kills section. I found it interesting.

I also read that the charger in that movie was a 440 and had to keep letting off the gas so the mustang could keep up.

Great kill i wasn't even sure if he was racing! You walked him. Obviously the Bullit is no threat to an ls1!

Obviously a Bullit is nothing more than a GT with an appearance package, so its going to get killed by an LS1 either way.

However, it sounded to me like the Bullit driver either had a slipping clutch or couldn't drive stick worth a ****, which may be the reason he got walked like he was going backwards...

nice kill, and actually guys the bullitt is more than just an appearance package.....it actually has a better performing catback, tokico shocks and struts, sits 1/2' lower than the GT's and has an all aluminum intake with a twin throttle body(the same one that was used on the 96-98 cobras) all in all they are rated at 265 hp (5 hp more than a base GT) but in reality actually prob make more like 20 fwhp more than a stock 4.6 GT of the same year.....but bottom line is they are no threat to the LS1

I can never find out any info on the charger. I've only heard about the mustangs. Even on the DVD with directors commentary and deleted scenes, they don't mention the engines or cars. I'm sure it wasn't a hemi, and whatever it was, it was probably an automatic.

Factory GT - 260BHP
Bullitt - 270BHP

(factory ratings)......appearance, suspension, catback, and upper intake.
