Default Cobra w/ G/F...looked foolish - but not for long! - Death

So I'm going down the road and hear the wonderful gurgly growl as a brownish-bronze 03-ish Cobra rolls by. I move around and yeah - I know I have no chance, but its not always about winning/losing.

We get to the next light and I show off some, to get his attention, he was going to turn right, but he sees the lane open up next to me and can't resist I guess.

We get to the next light, he's looking over, but won't roll down his window - just to chat.... guess he has an ego (which is well deserved).

I time the light perfect and I don't know, maybe he was still jawing with his G/F, but I got a HUUGGE jump on him. I thought for a second he wasn't going, but as I'm halfway through the intersection I hear his engine (and S/C) starting to warn me!

I hit about 85+ (speedo only goes to 85) and I've already heard him miss the 2/3 shift (even over my loud muffler). At about 90mph yep, here he comes...just screamin' by. Heck, I was happy I'd held him off.

We start to pull up at the next light and he quickly takes a right....guess his "performance" might not have been as impressive as it was intended to be.. Oh well, it was the same result either way, I was looking at his bumper.

Good death man! sounds like you've got a strong runner. Way to man up to the loss.

Yeah, you might be (but I'm reminded everytime ):

8.5" vs 7(whatever)" in a Camaro
2 Piece Driveshaft (its an Extended cab P/U from 1993) they didn't come with 1 Piece aluminum until just in the past couple of years (and I might get that changed one day)
I don't think a 4500 stall converter would do much for me.....

Oh yeah - almost forgot - 4600lbs and that's before a full tank of gas (which I had) and my 200+ butt sits in it

I think your right I mean, he pulled up beside me when it was plain as day he was going to turn right at first, then I moved over into the left lane and he saw that there were only two cars at a three-lane intersection - LOL

I would have stopped when I hit 90 and considered it a win since you have already maxed out your speedo. Sounds like you were ahead for at least an 1/8th mile.

Certainly would have been good, I think there's much to be said that I stayed ahead up to 80 in an ECSB compared to a S/C muscle car - think I proved the point that - but have to admit - trucks don't have the topend advantage on cars. That's okay with me.

My brother has an 03 Cobra with the smaller pulley (supposedly about 450hp now). He killed me (NA, 40-130mph) which is why I went to the bottle for a little help. I haven't raced him again -yet- but I have raced another 03 sc. On a 100 shot, I couldn't tell if I was pulling him.. or him me.. but it was damn close either way. I'm putting my 150 jets in and larger injectors next week. I don't think I'll have a problem anymore.

Also, I don't consider it 'cheating' since he's not NA either. Factory or not, FI is FI.
