Going back to the dark side...(ford)
Well heres the thing my first car was a 1994 Mustang GT, i had about 3,000 in mods in it and my mom wrecked, she hit a telephone pole, so with the insurance money i got my Formula(in my sig) ive had it for like 2 months, and yea sure its way faster but i just miss it i guess its true u do get attacheted to cars i never believed it before...but i did so in about a month when i turn 18, my mom said since she wrecked it she would cosign for me a car if i can find it, and the route im going is the 96-98 Cobra....the 4v 32 valve motor 4.6's...305hp and 300tq at the flywheel...as im sure most of you know...i myself am a GM guy its not like im converting to ford i just really miss the feel of my car and the sound of a mustang...so for those of you that dont car im sry i wasted ur time and if any of you do dont hate me for leaving gm...ill be back...because by the time im 21 i hope to have a 02 Firehawk....

if your gonna go ford get a fox!
but really brands aside, youd be much better off getting an ls1 car than that 4v cobra. I love those cars and they are very cool, but an ls1 fody is alot more car. Food for thought.

I know i know, but out of all the sn95-s197 mustangs these are about the best to mod outside of the Terminators...ls1s do respond to mods a bit better i know...ive already thout about this but i already have a plan for this car and its as follow...and it will be done by xmas 07
Procharged/Intercooled@9-10lbs
Ford Racing 42lbs Injectors
BBK Longtubes
Mac Prochamber Hpipe
Catback not sure wat kinda yet...
FRPP 4.10 gears...
Nitto 555r DR's
All this should net me around 430-450rwhp andnd 420-435rwtq depending on how aggresive of a tune i do...

For going big mods on a budget, I have to agree.. the ford (or for going no mods.. Ford s/c). Buuuut.. for 'go fast' with fewer mods, you really can't beat the ls1. Why spend all the money trying to "catch up" to the speed the other guys are already at? It's all in 'what YOU like" though. Your personality holds more weight than our opinions.

I mean any of you guys can hate if you want i appreciate all of u that actaully support the decsion...i mean 450rwhp in any car is nothing to laugh about, i mean sure with the right H/C/I and full boltons you can prolly get similar numbers n/a with an ls1, but to each his own i guess, i will have another fbody i just want the cobra for now...and if i find a nice fbody in the next month i may very well change my mind...plus its not likely that fbody rearend can handly 450rwhp while the ford can and thats an extra 2-3k i can save just by going this route for now...

You can't (easily) get similar RWHP numbers with a 4V 4.6 as you can an LS1. However, that doesn't mean you can't have a nice, fast car. Some folks look at things other than the motor (and RWHP) when buying a car - that is totally your call.
Me personally, I had a 98 Cobra. Nice car. I was "seduced" by the LS1, sold the Cobra, and bought a 99 T/A. Another nice car, but it just didn't do it for me. I went back to a Mustang. It certainly wasn't because of the powerplant.
I've often said that my "perfect" factory-built pony car would be a new-edge Mustang with an LS1 and an 8.8 live axle. Oh well - such is life.
Good luck with whatever you choose.

im not gonna lie, i do like stangs.. i like the 99-04 over the new ones. the 5.0 are always a good one, but i think its pretty hard to find one that hasnt been ran to the ground... after im doing all the things i want done to my ls1, ill probably find a GT to beat around.. i would definitely do some 1 chamber flowmasters on that b*tch..it will sound insanely sick..

96-98 Cobras are nice as hell man, good luck with your purchase. The setup you have planned sounds like it will be a beast as well. I knew a guy with those exact same mods(but a Vortech, not a procharger) and he was puttin down about 425rwhp on 10psi. He could run/beat cammed LS1's usually. As people have said buy what you like/want. I will be selling my GT to get a Camaro soon, and I'm scared to death that I will miss my car and end up like you, trying to get another one. I know that LS1's offer more power stock for stock, and are easy to mod, but I really like Mustangs.
