Talking The race i have been waiting for

Z28 vs. Bike

I posted a couple weeks ago asking if a bolt-on ls1 could beat a 600 from a high roll around 80 and up..........well i kinda got my answer

Yester day i was a nice day, best one we have had in weeks so i wanted to take ride with the t-tops off. I jump in my car, get on highway 90 and head for beaumont, tx to hang out with some friends. Its about a 40 mile drive so im cruising along when i get stuck at a light in nome, tx. I stop at the light and see a bike getting gas, it was a guy and his girlfriend. I didnt know what type at the time, i did know it wasnt a busa. When the light green i took off like i was racing someone to let them know i would play if they came up on me.

I so down to 70 and was just cruising hoping they would find me. Just outside china, tx I look in my rear view and guess who it is. I was so happy, he came up beside me and looked. He i got in behind him, he has about 2 car ahead of me when i see him down shift and pull the front wheel up. Im doing about 70 so i slam my car into 3rd and turn on my juice. I stay about 4 cars behind him, he was getting further away and i wasnt getting closer. Then he got over in the right lane and slowed down, i let off a flew past him. I slow back down to 70 and he comes up beside me. His girlfriend gives me a thumbs up. so we go along us both in the right lane, when we come up on a car. Now there is nobody ahead of us. When we go around (im in front) i put my car in 5th and i see him down shift in my mirror. So i turn on my switch and hit 3rd at about 75. The race is on, we both hammer down on it. I keep watching for him to come around me or fall back. He stay about a 1/2 car back all the way up to 150. I let out and we both slow down. He is beside me and he gives me a thumbs up and his GF gives me 2. (i think she like me lol) Anyway the bike was a honda cbr. I asked if it was a 600 with my fingures. I couldnt believe it when she put up 9. I was amazed I held back a 900. I was pumped up for an hour after that. That is my best race ever.

Long story short........ Z28/w 100 shot holds off a CBR 900 from 75 to 150

I can somewhat believe it too. But you realize his hp to weight ratio went out the window with his GF on the back of it. Even if she's only a 100lbs.

So he yanked a wheelie with his girl on the back and stayed beside you on the race? Not smart of him I guess. Him having a passenger didnt help him out at all thats for sure. Not only the weight of the passenger but the wind resistance she had would hurt his chances a great deal. I once saw my buddy, with his girl on the back, run dead even with a modded gran prix GTP from a high speed roll. He then raced without her and rolled the guy by several lengths. Nice run man. Find a solo rider and see how it goes.

If it was a 900rr honda then it is no newer than 98 or so. The CBR929rr replaced the 900rr.

Do a search on google for a 900rr and a 929rr and see if one of the pics matches. I will second that with a extra rider on back that it does not help him out, plus if it was a 900rr they only make right at mid 120's at the rear wheel.

Race is a race, try picking on something newer and see how you hold up. I may have to get some of my riding buddies to get their 600's out this spring with the camera and take some vid for peeps.

yeah the 900rr was a pig of a bike, my old gsxr750 schooled more than one. fyi....bikes+passengers dont equal a fair race....i know for a fact any time i even nail the throttle on my bikes with a passenger the front wheel goes for the sky, you cant go WOT.... he was messin with you.... you can call it a win.... but ill guarantee you he wasnt trying....

Dang that chick on the back of the bike is crazy, all girls I've met would get ridiculously pissed even going over 100mph in my car, let alone 150mph on the back of a bike lol.

Haha nice music on the radio.

In case you didn't see his original thread. He asked if an bolt-on ls1 could hang with a bike from a high speed roll. While that video shows a car hanging with a liter bike, no one knows the mods to that car.

I still believe even a 600r is going to walk an ls1 from even a 80mph punch.

Ahhh. I see.

I was just posting a quasi related video of a cool race. Off topic a little.

I think its cool that the thread starter even got into it with a bike to that speed.

eh....a 94 katana(lovingly called can'o'tuna by the bike world) has a top speed of just over slow as **** not quick bikes at all....maybe, and im strugling here to say maybe, a 13 second bike new....and if it was older and had some miles on her, well it goes down hill for them......

I raced a guy driving a Convertible Cobra this past summer it was a 03/04 model with my wife on back. I didnt plan on doing it as I dont ride agressive when she is on back with me, but the guy was acting cocky and jumping on the throttle. I guess he did not know his bikes as I took the "ZX-10R" sticker off of mine when I got it new.

Needless to say he did not fare very well. I also got my *** kicked when we got to the bike night we were going to too. The wife did not like it much.
