2001 formula vs. brand new evolution
We raced on the highway from 65 to about 130. We were side by side from 65 until about 100 then he slowly started to pull on me. We tried again and the same thing happened. Then we got off of the highway and raced from the hole at a light. I launched hard out of the hole on 17 inch street tires and spun for a while but kept it going strong. I owned him all the way to 70 and then shut down as he did a ricer fly by with the hazards. Before we got going from the dig I asked him how much boost he was pushing and he said 22 pounds. Is that about normal for those cars? Any input is appreciated. By the way I have 2001 A4 stalled @2,500, full bolt-ons, no cats, double diamond sfc's, new trq. arm, and lower control arms. I know i need sticky tires. No internal work on the ls1 yet, but soon to come... Not sure about his except for 22 pounds of boost.

This was my first thread because I mainly get info. from people about mods and such. I don't usually have to many mechanical issues. So i thought I could still post up and ask for some honest answers and opinions. So please chime in evolution owner.

a bolt on evo can be pretty quick. i never had a problem with full bolt on LS1's when i just had a turbo back exhaust, flash, and boost controller at 21psi. most cars with those mods make 300-330whp depending on the dyno and what kind of gas they are using.

Well alot depends on if it was a Evo VIII or IX. I find it odd that you killed him from a dig but he pulled you on a roll. A few bolt-on's and a tune on a IX and you have a low 12sec car on pump, takes abit more for a VIII. If he's only running 22lbs then he's probably running bolt-ons on the stock turbo.

Seems about right.
Evo9 with bolt ons and a boost controller should trapping 112-115mph or so. No wonder you got pulled from a roll since you're an auto.
From a dig you had a pretty good launch being stalled auto and evo probably didn't launch it hard enough, so you were able to get ahead of him.

He had to have at the very least a few grand in mods, no way he was close to stock.

Top Speed did a test of a low end econo 4cyl vs a high end EVO (Euro version). The test was a 5th gear pull from like 30mph roll over a 1/4 mile (something like that). End results, the EVO lost.
