Default 03 cobra vs 03 mach 1

Well i got bored this afternoon and decided to video a few runs between me and my buddy's mach 1. The Mach 1 runs really strong for its mods, i was impressed.

Its a nice daytime video, so you will see more than just headlights

enjoy.

He did a pretty damn good job of hanging in there! Mach 1's sometimes don't get the respect they deserve.

Well, I think the Mach held in so well because the Cobra was spinning. I know when I race cars I should pull hard on sometimes its closer than it should be because I end up just spinning 1st and 2nd. Good runs though. I should have some vids soon of my buddies Mach with Stg 3 cams, P&P heads and a Paxton vs my Cobra, should be fun.

I enjoyed the slipping clutch on the Mach 1...

When my car was "stock"...tune, exhaust, lid, ported TB...I ran against my brother's 03 Cobra with exhaust and K&N intake...I held with him through 3rd, then by 4th he was pulling me. Now, it's exact opposite and he's done quite a bit of modding on that car

thats pretty much what happened. Yeah on paper my car has a 100rwhp advantage but its slightly heavier + i had the camera man. People who expect a car on street tires to pull a few lengths thru 1st and 2nd make me

The MACH 1 needs to run with gears. The Cobra has the SC to make power quickly and get the RPMS up quickly. If the N/A MACH 1 does not have gears, than the RPMS will not get into the powerband quick enough and hence the result. It would have been a better run if the MACH 1 had gears. However, still not enough to beat a pullied SC Cobra. Races between boosted cars and N/A bolt-on cars usually have very similar outcomes.

Yeah... your right. I guess a 310Hp MACH 1 couldn't break the tires loose also. I did not know you need a SC to spin the tires. Just some info.... My normal tires on my MACH is a pair of MT drag radial, it is not uncommon for me to even break these loose. Forget about street tires. With my 4.10s, Moser 31-Spline and FRPP POSI Unit, 1st and 2nd gear with a treet tire is usless.

the mach held good with only those mods.. nice kill though
keep in mind the mach has a stronger 1 and 2 gears than the cobra as well.

Steeper doesn't necessarily mean stronger.

Right, but in his car...1st, 2nd, and the first part of 3rd are completely
useless on MT ET drag radials. Big difference.

Nice runs. But to make things fair, let's give the mach a power adder

Believe me your not going to teach me anything about a Mach I see them all day long here at MSX. However you missed my point, if the Cobra was spinning which he said it was, that would be the reason the Mach made it so close.

this is LS1tech.com and this is the street racing section. Yet to have been in the town that only has LS1's driving around

...and if the MACH 1 was spinning than the MACH 1 did make it close, right? However, as I stated, it still would not be enough for a pullied SC Cobra. N/A and SC cars do not make for good races. They are pretty one-sided races.
