Default 98 cammed ls1 vs. 94 lt1 or 4??

My father and I just came across a 94 formula in excellent condition for $1600. He could never get the car to run right. So we replaced the opti, and timing chain, along with a tune up. The car runs like new. The car has an lt4 intake, k&N kit, shorty headers, ORY, and we are not sure about the heads, it has no camshaft. My friend has a 98 ls1 with a tr 224 224 cam, ls6 intake, LTs, Ypipe. TO THE RACE- They line-up. I was right behind, 3 honks and there off @ about the same time. The formula pulls in front by a car and is able to get in front of the 98TA in his lane after about 110mph. 2nd race is about the same, except the 98TA gets the jump but only gets about 1/2 a car through the 1/4.

I am pretty sure this is an LT4 we picked up, but it only has 1.5 rockers, and NO CAMshaft. After the race my buddy with his 98 T/A said that cars really quick for how old it is.

hahahaha I would have loved to been there for that...

And the comment "he said its really quick for how old it is" is the funniest thing Ive read all day.
That right up there with the guy who said "I passed her because she was an automatic"

huh, that's an odd outcome. $1600 ftw, any plans on building it up?

not really my dad drives it to work everyday. We knew it had the lt4 intake, and headers,so we figured the dealer didnt know what he had. When we 1st got it it ran on like 5 cylinders. after changing the opti then going back and changing the timing chain the car ran the way it should. Thats all we really wanted out of the car. When i 1st rode in the car (after the changes) I could feel the power. I let my buddy know he better watch out the LT's coming for him. He thought yeah Right. so That really made it funny after the race. You cant let your guard down when it comes to LT4.
