Default Respect from a COBRA driver?

Not a kill per say, but i'll tell it anyways.
While at the market with my parents we hear a LOUD *** late 90's cobra pull into the parking lot, revving and trying to get all the attention he can. He parks and they go into the store, yada, yada, yada. \
Well i wait for them to leave and i follow them out. I ask them whose car it was cuz it sounded nice. Ask the owner if he races, to which he replies, "what do you drive?".
Oh just a Camaro Z-28, his boys looked like they were about to laugh, when out of nowere the driver says, "no thats too much car for this. Those things have like 305ci don't they, this thing is only a 289ci?" I correct him and say no, 346 but it's still not that fast. "what year, oh 2000, no, no thats an LS1 huh? No i really ain't got anything for that."
I was stunned that a Cobra driver actually had the ***** to step down in front of his friends. I give him mad respect for that. His car did sound badass though, and he did have to do the very typical revving anf WOT runs around the parking lot as he left.

Kinda wierd feeling though, i've never got that reaction outta someone before.

Ok, well whatever. I'm a very realistic kinda car guy... while I am aware than an LS1 *should* beat me in most circumstances, I still wanna run one. But I am definitely not gonna call one out, and if it comes up in discussion I'm gonna let him know upfront that I know I don't really have much for him at this point.

And for that you deserve props. It is better to be humble then make yourself look like a jackass. Guys like you and that other dude are the only reason i refrain from grouping mustang owners w/ the ricer imports.

Even when I had my Integra GS-R, I was the same way. EVERY carguy I hung out with was into Mustangs/F-bodies, but because I come off as a "carguy," and not a "ricer," it was never an issue. We'd crack jokes on each other's cars and everything, but we each had some level of respect for the other cars. This is a pretty funny picture, on that subject...

I don't know about all that... but 3 of the V6 Mustangs in that picture ran solidly in the 13s, and one ran a 13.2 @ 108mph

There are some strong V-6's out there for sure. Not my cup 'o tea but to each his own. That meet looks a lot like our meets. A nice mixture of Import and Muscle with NO attitudes, unless they're from out of town.

I try and give respect to carguys. Wether they're a "ricer" or whatnot. But around my neck of the woods, cobra guys are the ultimate douche bags.

That sucks man cause I am a cobra guy and i give props where they are due. I know that most ls1's can take me. I will even tell them. But for the ones that I do beat it is so much fun.

In the area where I live the f-bod's are definitely the minority with mustangs being the majority. Most of them are asses though. I hate to say it cause I would love for all of us to get together sometime. I'm not a ford or mustang hater but I will say they are not my style. I know all mustang owners are not like this but where I live you can feel the animosity.

around here its a solid mixture of f-bodys and mustangs, for the most part all the guys i run round with get along great, but there are certain out of towners who come around trying to raise hell, but not very often, one of my good friends has a 500rwhp 04 cobra, awesome guy, easy to get along with and he likes stangs and f-bodys alike, as do i. we are just a domestic crowd. but you see *******'s in just as many fbodys as u do stangs, its a common thing, lol. i respect any fast domestic car, but imports are not my thing, but a clean fast one is respectable i suppose.

Man......

I wish there were more on LS1tech like this, and all over. The sad thing is that there are douches in all cars, and on here, and what they dont realize is that they are not only making everyone in similar cars look bad, but are just like the douches they bad mouth.
