I bought a BMR two point strut bar and I could really tell a difference from stock. The front end turns in better and it made it feel stiffer.

Hello,

Please keep us in mind as well. We offer a shock tower brace for $79.99 and comes in your choice of Red, Black, Silver or Yellow powder coat for no additional charge... we use a high gloss powder coat to offer a very detailed and clean look under the hood. The shock tower brace in the ebay links will come in a dull powder coat.. that is one thing to watch for.

I posted a link below and a picture, all colors are in stock and we can ship same day. If you have any questions please ask. Thank you! Ryan

They don't really have much function and don't help handling. Just get whatever one you like best.

The shock tower brace with the first thing I did on my car. Now I can't say that I could "feel a difference" but I have noticed that my car has less squeeks and rattles than most F-bodies and mine has been heavily autocrossed for 10 years. So I see that as proof that they work...

I have the UMI brace. Great product for the price. I did feel a difference after I put it on. The front end felt a little more "Planted".

Some people will say they did wonders and others will tell you the opposite. I can say that out of all my suspesion mods it did the least. But for the price and how easy they are to put on, it's worth it in my opinion.

It should. I'm pretty sure it's just 96/97 SS cars that needed the V6 style STB. These are nice to have something to brace yourself on while working in the engine bay but not much else IMO.

True story. I don't think any kind of brace is needed. If you want one to dress it up, go for it, but don't expect your car to handle any measurably better.

That said, if you get one, I'd get the UMI. UMI = win.

I have a UMI Piece and I felt it kept the car from wondering over uneven pavement + it looks good in the engine bay.

This is how you test it. Have someone either take it off or leave it on without telling you which they did. Drive the car, see if you can guess correctly. Do this a couple times and you will realize it doesn't really help. That said, I have one for the reason I stated earlier... it's an SLP unit, and it's rusting.

If the inner fenders flopped around enough to make this addition give a noticeable difference to the driver, then the hood, fender and nose body lines would be moving without it. I bet that doesn't happen ...

Some people can be sold a bill of goods and they do there damnedest to believe they didn't get taken to the cleaners.

This place used to be about gathering information and sharing it to make these cars better. In this section, it was about making these cars turn and stop better. There was a lot of help happening in here.

Now, it's turned into the yellow pages. No real tech is shared any more. Just a phone number to call ... as long as your Visa isn't maxed out.

It's sad what this section of LS1Tech has become. I yearn for the good old days ...

I don't think any of them do much. They will brace the strut towers, but they only work in a particular degree of freedom. If you really want to brace the front of the car, you have to tie the strut towers to the firewall. Triangulation is the only means to make this work. For that matter, get the Edelbrock brace.
