Default Sway bar bushing U-clamp to bracket . . not flush fit ?

I previously tried an energy suspension bushing for my 32mm sway bar.
The bushing was too tall for the u shape clamp to bolt down flush to the bracket. So I torqued it down and the ends of the u clamp came down leaving a gap. It's not flush to the bracket.

So now I have the oem bushing and the same thing is happening.
The bushing is too tall for a flush fit between the u clamp and bracket.

Is the oem rubber supposed to compress when torqued to 41lbs (as opposed to the es bushing)

(my 35mm suspension techniques bar with it's 35mm bushing (+ u clamp) fit flush with no problems)

Just got the oem done:
when torqued to factory spec 41lbs the rubber does compress and the u clamp is flush with the bracket where the bolts meet unlike the energy suspension bushing.

I would place a flat washer(s) under the ears of the clamp, so the ears are tight enough to hold the bushing firmly in place, but not binding the sway bar.

I just followed the factory install & torqued to 41lbs like the service manual says. Shouldn't this be ok with the oem bushing?

How do I check for binding?

OK, I misread your post. I thought you still had the ES bushing in place. Yes, with the OE bushings, use the factory spec. There's no real check for "bind" with the rubber bushing, as they actually bind a bit by their nature. The poly bushings, because they're a harder material, don't bind, unless they're clamped too tightly. That was why I was suggesting the flat washers between the "U Clamp" and the frame.
