Default Rear Rotors

What sort of upgrades are there for rear rotors? How come we don't run front and rear rotors the same size. It is obvious that the rears are much smaller than the front rotors. Wouldn't 4 big rotors and calipers stop better than 2 small and 2 big?

The only thing I can think of is that the Front Rotors stop all the mass of the car, and the rears just part....

What options are there to help out the rear rotors?

The fronts provide 75-85% of the stopping power. They are the ones that really matter.

Lots of cars have different sized rotors. It's just the way certain cars balance their braking system. This type of car doesn't need a lot of rear brake power and you'll probably cause brake hop if you put more rear braking power in compared to the front.

When you are stopping, the momentum throws most of the force and weight of stopping on the front end, which is why the fronts are always bigger/stronger than the rears and also why they wear faster.

They are not neccasarily always bigger in the front. My 04 Lightning had 12.1" rotors in the front, and 13.1" rotors in the rear.. that thing would STOP in a hurry, especially for a heavy *** truck!

Rotor diameter isnt everything that determins stopping ability. Thickness and vented/non vented charateristics determin fade. You can have rotors front to rear that are the same diameter but the rears are thin or solid designs. Reciting what has already been said. Front rotors will have anywhere from around 60%<higher so they need to be bigger and vent more effeciently. If your looking to upgrade. Look into corvette convesions or full brake upgrade kits. You really wont see a big difference in stopping power from factory rotor replacements unless you get some light weight designs.
