Default Master cylinder and other ?'s

I was wondering when you should upgrade the stock master cylinder? Going to a complete different brake set up on my car. Going to the a 4 piston caliper up front replacing the LS two piston. Out back replacing the LT1 series one pistion caliper with the 4 piston caplier as well. Any thoughts on any other brake upgrade. It already has stainless lines.
Is it a good idea to add a check valve some where for the brake lines in the rear? Or is that not really needed.
With those changes would brake adjustment be also needed to change the amount of fluild the front of the car gets compared to the rear of the car. It is called somehing I can't spell it porportining valve.
