Default What are the best shocks?

I just bought the Hotchkis lowering springs (1") and was looking for the best shocks to replace the stock shocks with. I have an 02 Ram Air convt. and was just looking to make it handle better in the curves. This is just my weekend driver. Any suggestions?

I'll jump on the bandwagon and suggest Koni's as well. Strano is a great source for them and will talk you through so you get the best option for your needs. I went with the 3rd gen rears to save 100 bucks because I didn't see the need for infinite adjustability and ease of adjustment. Also Sam has them on sale right now so it would be a good time. You probably just need the SA's, the DA's are overkill for most. The Koni's were by far the best upgrade I have done. Good choice on the springs BTW. The only reason I went with Strano this time around over the Hotchkis again was I wanted linear rates instead of the progressive... and the drop in weight from the strano's was kinda nice too .

Thanks all.....i did get the Konis 4/4 from Sam......just drove it to the shop for an alignment and was told I need a camber kit as they were not able to align it properly without it. Any ideas or suggestions?

If you need more negative camber you can see if Strano has any upper a-arm offset bushings or you can get some adjustable A-arms (I suggest the Strano bushgins though). Make sure the shop knows these are coil over shocks with a short/long arm suspension, not a Strut setup like on the 3rd gens. I've seen some shops fail at this. Has your car ever been in a front end collision?

At the risk of sounding like an "azzhat", find a better alignment shop!

funny you should mention the front end collision.....the car was bought 2 years ago and according to carfax there was no collision however the alignment shop asked if it had. Honestly I didn't notice anything but then again I may not know what I should be looking for. Maybe I will take it to my usual guy and see what he says. I went to Midas and I have never been there but I was dying to get it on the road and they were the only shop with an opening that day. Sorry if I am sounding like I don't know what I am talking about....I really don't know much about suspension I am more of an engine girl. I will have to look into it tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas, you all have been great.

I'd think it's the shop then. They were probably only asking if it had been hit to try to explain why they could not get it into spec. Try some place else and see if they have a problem. Best of luck.
