Default Strut tower brace Q

I know strut tower braces make the car sturdier and help with cornering, but do they do anything for drag racing other than add extra weight to the front of the car?

On our front double wishbone suspensions, the STB does basically nothing to help handling or cornering. It may help on other cars and a 3rd gen fbody, but not on ours. A bigger front swaybar will do probably what your are thinking of, and you will notice a difference. Then again people disconnect them for drag racing. I autox my car and don't use a STB

What do you want to do with your car?

I like straight line fast more than cornering, if I want to do some cornering I'll get in the wife's Cobalt SS/TC. I was just thinking about selling the SLP one that's on the car and wanted to make sure I wouldn't regret it. I don't think I will.

Dump it in any case, including for cornering.

Nah.. take the fbody out for some cornering! Way more fun.

As far as the STB, I don't think it's an issue or will have much of an effect for what you do. The top shock mounts should be relatively rigid in the 4th gen.

There are some people who complained about trying to add one and it not lining up correctly, but I'm not sure if they are taking into account the angle of the shock mount bolts. So I'm not sure if that was installation misconception or possibly slight deformation in the chassis. STB can't hurt you, except for slight additional weight.

No, they are for people who like to waste money and add weight for nothing.
