Default v6 rear springs? anyone run them or know where to get them?

Got a question for a friend of mine, He's looking for a cheap way to help his ws6 hook better (already has tq arm/lca's/phb) and was thinking of using the v6 rear springs cuz of their supposedly softer spring rate would help with weight transfer, but says he cant find new ones, called a dealership and they only showed one part # for all springs for f-body's v8 or v6 1993-2002?

I dont know much about using them but does anyone know if they are a softer spring than a ws6 and if they will help or not with weight transfer?

I've always heard that, but never seen written proof of spring rates between V6 and V8 cars....

BUT I will have some for sale soon I hope. I'm trying to find some shocks for my 2000 V6 convertible and when I do the old springs will be for sale. 80K miles on them....how much would be fair to ask?

Theres a place up here in Santa Rosa, Calif. called Camaroland. The address is 3840 Finley Ave. 95407. 707-585-3273. Its a small Camaro junkyard. It isn't a u-pull-it kind of place. I think they also have a website. Seemed a bit high priced on some things. A few years ago I was experimenting with some V6 springs on my Z28. I paid $20. The V6 springs are softer then the V8 springs. How much I don't know. I didn't drive around on them because I thought they might be to soft and bottom out on the stops.I don't have them anymore. Other then that I have no more info. Sorry.

As far as price idk their not for me so its not my money to spend lol. And I'm sure he would like to hear some proof that they are softer before buying a pair or at least testimony from someone running them saying yea they help with weight transfer or seemed to help the car hook better...

I tried a search but didnt find anything which seems wierd cuz I'm sure i've heard of several people on here running them or at least had v6 rear springs listed as a mod in their sig.

Search pulled up quite a few threads about it for me...

https://ls1tech.com/forums/search.php?searchid=7576035

I'm not sure of the V8 spring rates, but I did find the V6 spring rates here.

93-97
Front Spring Rate: 39 N/mm, 223 lbs/in
Rear Spring Rate: 16.9 N/mm, 95.4 lbs/in

98-02
Front Spring Rate: 45 N/mm, 257 lbs/in
Rear Spring Rate: 19.9 N/mm, 114 lbs/in

If your buddy really wants some V6 springs, try checking some of the V6 sites. They pop up quite frequently on those. There's a set every once in a while in the FS section on here too. Honestly, he would be better off buying some quality aftermarket springs or sticky tires to compliment his setup. But I guess these could be a cheaper alternative in the mean time.

The 98+ cars all had the same rear springs regardless of engine choice. If you want the softest OEM rears then you want the 93-97 V6 springs.

Thanks for the replies and spring rates guys! I'll let him know the 93-97 v6 springs are the softest and give him the santa rosa yard # if he decides to go that route.
