Sorry man, I'm working nights this weekend. Please call me on Monday or Tuesday or send me a PM. I'm just a bit busy lately and my apologies to you.

I like them a lot, they are great tires. The 300 tread wear rating is nice to have too. I can floor it in 1st without any wheelspin, they really stick. Same thing with cornering, on good tarmac they stick like glue and give you fair warning when they are reaching the limits of adhesion.

I have 245/40/18 fronts and 285/35/18 rears. I paid about slightly less than $700 total (mounted/balanced/tax) for all 4 from a local tire place.

Honestly I haven't had a chance with work and everything. However, being that the offset of the rim is 56mm, and its a 9.5" wheel (241.3mm), then the distance from the front wheel lip to the hub should be 64.65mm based on the math. Subtract the depth of the spokes (25mm on my rims, directly in front of the caliper, just checked) and you end up with 39.65mm from hub to the back of the spokes.

I have two questions.

1) Anyone that has done this kit...They look great, but how do they hold up under hard braking? Have you guys noticed an improvement?

2) I heard that c5 rotors fit on the rear of f-bodies. Anyone know big are those and what would I have to do to get them to fit?

Huge improvement under hard braking. Honestly there is no comparison to the stock brakes.

Not sure on that, but I've heard of being using C5 components on the rears of F-bodies.

Good to hear, I was going to wait on upgrading my brakes, but I was racing a bike the other day and got kinda scary when I hit my brakes.

I was just trying to find options for the rears as well to fill in the space.

after reading this thread i have to do this swap i just want to verify a few things

i have 18x8s up front with a 40mm offset so i should be good right

also it says u are using c6 z06 rotors with ctsv calipers so i would want ctsv pads correct and
on gmparts direct there is a 70 per rotor price which is different from pg 1

this whole package sounds a little too cheap based on what we are getting does everything bolt up like a regular front brake job
one more question does the balance of the brakes feel different with the fronts now much bigger than the rears

sorry for the long post just want to doublecheck before ordering thanks

They will fit inside those wheels diameter wise, but you will still need to make sure you have the correct offset so that the calipers clear the wheel spokes.

The spoke clearance changes depending on the width of the wheel. So an 9.5" wide wheel (like mine) with a 40 mm offset is going to have more clearance than an 8" wide wheel with a 40mm offset. By my calculations, you have about 20mm less spoke clearance than a 9.5" wheel with a 40mm offset - which is probably not enough to clear the calipers. You'll probably need wheel spacers to have sufficient clearance.

Thats correct. You want the CTS-V pads for the CTS-V calipers.

I just checked GM Parts direct, looks like the price went way down on those rotors. When I bought them they were somewhere around $100 a piece. Looks to me like you have the correct rotors though, part number is 19121787 just to be sure.

Check out the beginning of the thread. I explained everything about what needs to be done.

No, the brake bias feels about the same, it just stops a lot quicker. A lot of people say our cars are biased towards the rear anyway, so if anything this upgrade evens out the braking bias between the front and rear.

Oh, and another thing cant stress enough how much Loc-tight or somthing similar is needed for the 2 bolts that hold the caliper to the spindel. mine came out 2 differnt times it took a mean bite outta the inside of my rims . i was just lucky enough to have a few washers and extra bolts both times. now i check to make sure there tight every so often

I just looked up the price of the rotors under. The 1912787 number and they come up as costing $68.63 each. Perhaps, I missed it but does anyone have a part number for the calipers and pads? I didn't see a price posted for the calipers and would like to check it out.

The calipers and pads are difficult to find because there are multiple parts numbers, with some superceeding others, and some are for bare calipers while others are for loaded ones (calipers w/ hardware and pads).

I went on GM parts direct, and these are the 2 numbers I came up with for the calipers:

89047726
89047727

I would check out eBay though first. Thats where I got my calipers from. Many times companies pull off the stock brakes from these cars and put them up for sale, you can usually find a loaded set for less than $300.

The front pads I came up with were GM part number 89047725.

You can get pads anywhere though. Your local auto parts store or online will have them for much cheaper. Just make sure to get a good brand. The OEM GM ones are good but they dust A LOT. Hawk and EBC make excellent performance pads, and if you're just looking for something basic, I'd go with Wagner Thermoquiets or Bendix.

Thanks.

89047726 came up as $134.49
89047727 came up as $132.32

Both said they were a caliper. I'm going to guess one is the right and the other is the left?

I'll also check to see what I can find on ebay.

Yep, those are the parts numbers for right and left. No idea why the price is different though.

I found a set on eBay when I looked the other day, but it was for all 4 corners, and you don't need the rear two. It would be awesome to install them on the rear too, but so far nobody has done enough research to figure out if they will work, whats needed, ect.

Well, I bought a set of calipers off of a member on here. I got them in the mail on Wednesday. I am a little burnt out on working on the car after a combined 21 hours over the past three days so I am going to have to hold off a little. I still need to order the rotors, pads, lines, spacers, and play musical wheels / tires between 3 cars.

Default CTS-V Brake Install

Wesmanw02,
Do you know of anybody who has installed the CTS-V/Z06 Brakes on a Ford 9inch housing? I plan to do an around upgrade and you cannot beat this kind of quality and performance at this price.

Again, thanks
