Nope, can't say that I do. Haven't heard of anyone installing these brakes on a solid rear axle. The main issue would be with the mounting bracket, if you can fabicate a bracket that spaces the caliper properly over the rotor in terms of diameter and side to side spacing, I can't see why it wouldn't work.

I'm Interested in this upgrade and have also been looking into some Comp.Grey 09 Spyder wheels 18x9.5 (all corners)after reading this thread i'm thinking about goin with the wheel offset of 40mm vs the 56mm.(no spacers needed hopefully) I wouldn't mind the wheels brought out a bit anyway with the 40mm but concerned it may be to far. (not flush) I'd run 275/40 18 tires on all. Thoughts??

Sounds good to me. The 40mm offset should clear the brakes just fine, as long as the spoke design of those wheels doesn't protrude inwards near the caliper. They shouldn't stick out too far seeing as the stock 56mm offset is actually pretty far inwards, so 40 should put them right in line with the edge of the fenderwells. Tire size sounds about right for those width rims as well.

What are the options for the back? I was thinking about what would be a good brake setup for the car but I would like to upgrade the rears as well.

When doing this conversion and using the stock C6Z rotor, was there any concern that the stock C6Z rotors are not directional? I know the track guys sometimes have heat issues with the right side since you are running the cooling vanes backwards(they are actually 2 left side rotors). Any concern with this using them on the street hard?

BTW, just purchased my C6Z calipers, and am researching rotors. Great writeup.

I haven't had any issues with mine under hard street use, and that includes repeated hard braking on multiple occasions. I've pushed these brakes as hard as I could push them without issue.

The directional cooling fins really only become a concern under extremely hard track use.

Thanks, good luck with the conversion.

I've yet to hear of any heat related issues concerning the different vane directions. A lot of speculation, but no actual issues.
Anybody tracking their car hard should probably run brake ducts and that makes vane direction a non-issue.
There are also 2 other brands of rotors if your not comfortable with the OEM ones.

OK this seems like the setup I need to go with. The way I read I should have no modifications if my offset is ok. I have HP Design Evo 18x7.5" I will check the offset I feel it is 41 or less. When I order my calipers from GM performance do I need to order the brake pad hardware as well? It does not appear that the rotors are directional am I correct? Is there anything else I need to consider? I did not read every post.

The issue is that "41mm or less" offset only applies to a 9.5" wide wheel. The actual distance changes depending on width. So being that your wheels are 2" narrower, you will have less clearance between the brakes and wheel spokes.

If you order the calipers from GM, then yes, you will need to order the brake hardware as well. The rotors are not directional. See the first post in this thread for all the requirements for the swap.

To Yank423 in post #122, 275/40/18 is gonna throw the speedo off and may rub up front. 275/35/18 should be what your looking for.

Great write-up!!! Glad it's a sticky!

I'm very interested in this conversion, but I have a set of 15x3.5 Weld Draglites in the front... Think spacers would do the trick to get the rotors/calipers to fit behind the wheel?

Sorry man no idea on that one...you'll probably just have to do some measurements and test fitting to see if you can make it work.

do you have the part number for the '07 cts-v front left/right calipers? also i heard they come with pads for a little higher price, are these pads worth buying or can i get a better set for street use?

These are the two numbers I came up with for calipers from GM Parts Direct:

89047726
89047727

I believe those are just the calipers themselves, no hardware or pads included. So in other words, they are not "loaded".

I got mine with pads (they were take offs, not brand new) and the pads are very good for street use. They are quiet, stop extremely well, and they grab well regardless of temperature. Their only downside is that they dust like crazy, so you constantly need to clean your wheels. Aftermarket pads like Hawk Ceramics would probably be a better alternative if you're looking for less dust.

Its an amazing deal for what it costs. Your car should stop like a race car after you're done.

Can you post a comprehensive list of parts, part #'s, cost per part, and place of purchase? This way we have all the current info.

Thanks
