Default 07 Yukon brake upgrade ?

My current style Yukon needs more brake at highway speeds. Any ideas ? Do GM calipers usually interchange ? Those seem to be the most expensive part...All the megabuck aftermarket kits are at least $ 2-4 K per axle. TIA

what kind of pads are you running right now? throw on some hawk HPS's or something along those lines with some good fluid if you haven't already and see where you're at.

I can offer you a number of options from better pads and rotors, to kits that move your stock brake caliper out (relocation brackets so to speak) and allow bigger rotors like 14" rotors to be run, all the way to Big Daddy Brake kits with 4, 6 and 8 piston calipers.

I don't have these things on my website because Yukons aren't my primary game--but I can help you with the truck...

I suspect they're the factory issue...I haven't put a wrench to this thing yet. I did find a kit to relocate the stock calipers and add 14" rotors for about $500. Wonder if that's worth it ? I'm pretty sure I need new rotors anyway.

I can beat $500... fwiw.

Is it worth it? Well, you'd be increasing the leverage quite a bit by moving to a 14" diameter rotor. You would have to make sure the setup would clear you wheels. And if you don't have good brake pads, doesn't much matter how big the rotors are because it's still the pads that give you the bite.

Thanks for answering, guys. Sam, that kit may be the way I go- I'd love the bragging rights with Brembos or the like but jee-sus that's alot of cabbage ! Might have to do the back too. It does have the factory 20 inch wheels, so alot of meat will fit in there.

Update...as it turns out, these things ( mine at least ) have 13 inch rotors with 2 piston calipers. New rotors and pads did wonders. Do Z06 calipers ( 4 piston ) bolt up if you use the 14 inch rotors with caliper relocation brackets ? And would you believe a GM dealership sells those 20 inch tires about $200 cheaper than the usual tire outlets ?
