Default Best Spring for Optimum Ride Quality?

Obviously, the answer is stock.

I'm referring to lowering springs. Did a quick search, ended up with a mixed bag of results/opinions.

To narrow it down I'm installing a set of SLP Bilsteins on the car soon, and I'm trying to figure out which lowering spring will ride the best and lower the car NO MORE THAN about 1.25" or so in the front from stock (due to the heavier front end from the turbo kit).

Thoughts/opinions from those that have had a good riding similar setup utilizing the HD or SLP bilstein shocks?

I'm taking off a set of DMS springs, but they have more drop then you're looking for. The overwhelming consensous seems to be that Strano springs would be best for your needs.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah I'd seen good things from the Stranos. I had DMS on my old '99 Z28 and loved them, but I'm afraid the front end would be too low, something comparable in ride quality would be fine.

haven't had a chance to try yet, but I have been convinced the Stranos will have a better ride then the DMS.

Just to give you another option. We offer a 1.25" lowering spring with a #550 lb front rate and a #160 rear rate. We also have a lifetime guarantee against spring sag. We have plenty in stock and can ship same day.

If you'd like to discuss options, feel free to call me on my tech-line which is 814-849-3450.

I'm not going to sit here and say you have but one option. In fact given that you seem to want to stay on Bilstein's (and fwiw, I have SLP Bilstein's on sale currently for $384.99/set and free shipping, just a small handling fee added) then there are some things we should discuss.

My springs (and whether others who run higher rates will admit it, or even know it) are best used with Koni shocks. Doesn't mean that they can't work together, the Bilstein's and my springs, but the Koni's handle them better for the long term. Add the extra weight of your car with the turbo setup and you want even better damping control to keep the car settled.

Springs and shocks work together, as well as independently. And what's right for one isn't right for all situations. Not everyone sees it that way, but I do.

SLP Bilstein's (and for that matter HD's) were never intended for springs with rates as high as what I use in the front). In fact SLP Level 1 springs are 300-450 variable rate in the front, some 100 lbs/in.+ softer than many springs...

The easy thing for me to do would be tell you "my springs are perfect". While they might in the end be the decision you make, it's my job to inform you of the other details that will matter.
