Default Minor suspension mods...

So I'm like everyone else here, broke and wanting to mod my car. I can't afford shocks, springs, sfc's and the like right now, so I'm looking to do some small stuff that may give me a little bit of a seat-of-the-pants feel. Right now I'm thinking:

-poly swaybar bushings and endlinks
-alignment with a degree of negative camber
-poly torque arm mount
-shock tower brace
-possibly some 1LE parts

Would any of this give any impact on handling? My main goal is to not rip the car apart, or spend much money on parts, while getting some sort of gains.

Any other suggestions?

moog lca bushings (same as 1le) and maybe skip the stb and get a panhard bar

also keep an eye out in the classifieds. i've done springs/shocks/lcas/relo brackets/panhard bar/torque arm/swaybars for under $700 total probably

on a side note i'll have a hollow 32mm bar off of my friends car for sale this weekend probably if you're interested

What combination of bars would the hollow 32mm bar work with? Depending on price, I'm interested.

What makes the 1LE bushings better than the factory? Are they more firm without inducing bind?

First off what car do you have? If its a SS/WS6/Firehawk you will already have a 32mm front bar, if its a base Z28/TransAm then you should have teh 30mm front bar.
Regardless the 32mm front bar works well with the stock 19mm bar, anything bigger will give you undesired oversteer.

A rear adj. phb like a UMI can be had for around $100. It would have a large effect on handling.

I have a 97 Trans Am. Is the 32mm what the WS6? Which rear bar did the WS6 have? I'm slightly concerned about balance. I don't want to create any snap oversteer, especially if I will be adding a more aggressive alignment, but hardly touching the rear.

Also, is a poly torque arm mount worth messing with?

WS6's have the 32/19 combo which most people find to be a better balance than the stock 30/19.

i did a poly torque arm mount. cured the small amount of wheel hop i had accelerating from a stop around tight corners.

Hello
I figured I would just throw this out there for you! The best bang for the $ is a set of lower control arm relocation brackets. They not only increase on your traction performance but they eliminate any wheel hoping issues as well. Below is a link to show you what I am explaining we offer it in both weld on and bolt on.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask and I will be more than glad to help.
Thanks
Brad

While I understand how the relocation brackets work for launching, how do they effect handling and cornering?

relocation brackets are not ideal for corners.

lower control arms really made a noticable change in my rear axle feel.
poly torque arm bushing was pretty good as well.

those 2 combined got ALL the wheel hop out of my ride.

Hello
The LCARB work well like you mentioned for launching the vehicle but they do intend to cause some over-steer. Some auto X and road racers just keep them LCA's in stock location or the mount the LCA in the 2nd hole in the relocation bracket. In the end it just depends on what you are looking to get out of your ride. If you have any other questions feel free to ask!
Thanks
Brad
