Default Camaro Z28 vs WS-6 Rear Sway Bar

For a 99 Camaro and a 2002 WS6, can anyone tell if there's a difference between the two, the rear sway bar?

It think the rears are the same at 19mm. The front is 32mm on the WS6/SS and 30mm on the other V8 cars.

You may want to search before you go on impulse buying. What are you looking to change about the car?

Indeed, the BMR is a good piece if you're drag racing IMO, not properly balanced for cornering/street (a little too big)

Hello
I just wanted to throw this out there as another option. UMI Performance also offers a wide variety of aftermarket sway bars for both Drag Racing and better handling. Below is a link to show you what all UMI Performance has to offer.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask! And I will be more than glad to help.
Thanks
Brad

Glad you caught me before I purchased. For the UMI sales guy and JD AMG, what i'm trying to do is have the better (not the best) of both the drag racing world as well as handling. I just looked at the UMI rear sway bar, part #2113. Please advise me if this will be suffice for my car. I have a 99 Camaro, 6.0L with a front mount T-76 mm turbo, retaining a/c, UMI torque arm with the location kit, Moser 12 bolt w/ 3.73 gears. It is an everyday driver, so please tell me what you think. Thanks for the help fellas!!

I'm gonna send UMI a pm.

The 25mm that BMR sells now (25mm right? they switch around a lot for whatever reason...) is generally too big for any front bar available for our cars to my knowledge, none the less a stock front bar. This will make the car pretty tail happy. What you go with is going to depend on how far you want to take it. You could get an adjustable rear bar, and have it stiffer for the strip and softer for handling, or you could just get a 21 or 22mm rear bar with a matching front bar (35mm or 36mm). Again without upping the front bar the rear will want to swing around on you. And here is one issue though, a bigger front bar while helping handling may hurt your launch at the strip. Some disconnect an endlink (drivers side I think?) for better weight transfer when at the strip.
Now with all that said, if you really want to improve handling and ride you need to look into some good shocks, these will do much more for handling and ride than swaybars. The factory shocks are really the weak link to handling and ride for our cars, with something like konis you won't believe you are driving the same car as before.

Thanks, JD!! I'm gonna look at the Konis shocks too. Right now, I have Bilstein Shocks all around. What other shocks (if any others) would you suggest?

Bilstiens are supposed to be pretty decent shocks, especially for stock springs. For better handling off the shelf shocks konis would probably be the way to go, but you could also look into the edelbrock IAS coilovers (although I have no experience with them, you should talk to Sam Strano about this).
Just be sure to stay away from drag shocks like QA1/HAL, Afco, Strange, etc.

Actually, if you haven't ordered your sway bar yet, Strano makes a adjustable rear sway that you can tighten up for the strip and go back to a street friendly setup....might be worth looking into.

Hello. I've got some question for you. Who makes the best Stabilizer bar :BMR, SPOHN or maybe HOTCHKIS? I want to install Stabilizer bar. This part is from WS6. I want to install it in Firebird 1995 3,4. Is it good idea? In the future I'm going to make SWAP LS1.

The best is a difference of opinion. You will have every manufacturer in here claiming that title. Ask yourself what do you want out of your ride? What do you have now? And buy what works.

If you got the extra cash go for the adjustable, best all around as you can set it for what you need at the time.

Strano hollow sway bars FTW! One of the best suspension mods I've done.

Another person posted the stock Z28 rear sway was 18mm -- anyone measure one with a vernier caliper to verify? The SS one rear is 19mm and I have read the WS6 rear is the same...

For the best of both drag/handling worlds, it seems you should be looking at Strano's Rear ADJUSTABLE sway:

Hotchkis also sells an adjustable.
