Default Lots of play in my steering

Before I installed my turbo setup the steering was fine. The car was down for several months and I had to make my own power steering lines due to the possibility of the stock lines melting. There is a good 6inches of play. Could the rack just have gone bad from sitting? Is there a way to burp it or something that I'm not aware of?
