Default Strut mount threads not aligning up to chassis holes

I am lowering my car and I need to replace the strut mounts because they are rusted. I bought some kyb mount and the threads did align with the holes on the chassis so I returned them. I ordered different manufacturer kind. Any suggestions on what I should do if it happens again? I have 2001 trans am ws6

I bought Moog (order from Advance Auto) and both fit perfectly.

I tried the Monroes, but "eyeballed" them first, then used a vise to "tweak" them to line up before I assembled them on to the springs. However, one of the threaded inserts broke loose during installation.....

I have had good luck with NAPA mounts. They look like the stock ones, fit like the stock ones and have a lifetime warranty, or at least they did. They cost around $100 retail. If the brand you have pulls through use a nut and bolt. I had to do it with Moog mounts.

Before you torque the shock nut put everything back in loose and jack up the control arm to line up all the bolt holes, so you can mark the mount, spring, shock etc.. It sucks to take everything apart again because the holes don't line up.

Well I already completed the front struts. I got Monroe strut mounts from advance auto for $62 each and they lined up somewhat so I used a dremel to grind some of the metal away and they fit perfectly. I don't care what you say but paying $200 for gm factory style mounts is ridiculous. Factory spec shocks for the ws6 are $144. How can shocks be less than a mount? People at GM better get their heads out of their asses.

so what your saying is because gm makes the part to fit correctly, and without any modifications. that there head is up there *** for charging you $200. did you ask the dealer if he could do better on the price, or did you give him attitude and gave a smartass comment as you walked away? when i sold parts for a living, at a gm dealer we had different prices for everyone. there was our cost, wholesale, list, above list, and complete *** price. i am not calling you an ***, but i have dealt with people my whole life. and sometimes it is just in the way you can say hello.
