Default Rear antiroll/sway bar hits 9" rear end?

Hey guys,

Just finished up getting my Formula on the road and I have VERY limited (pretty much none) rear suspension travel. Part of this is due to the fact that my Spohn extreme rear sway bar is literally sitting on the edges of my Ford 9" housing. I was told they make bushings/spacers/brackets to move the sway bar down some. Can anybody link me?

Here is my swaybar:

Thanks!

Andrew

I had this same situation with my Moser 9inch rear. With the stock sway bar it cleared, but not by much. I recently installed some Strano hollow sway bars front and rear and the rear bar would contact the rear housing slightly. To fix the problem I made two spacer plates, like you mentioned. I used a 1/2 inch thick piece of aluminum, drilled my two clearance holes and put them between the sway bar mounting bracket and rear mounting surface. Bar is now 1/2 inch lower and clears easily.

Thanks - I'm doing the same now. Was the 1/2 inch enough to keep it from banging against the rear?

I did the same thing with my stock bar and Strange 12 bolt. I spaced it a 1/2" and it has worked flawlessly for many hard miles.

1/2 inch was plenty for me, but could vary from application depending on sway bar size and style of mount.

All fixed - made up a couple of spacers like mentioned above and now the car rides significantly better!
