Default road feel 2000 t/a vert

should also mention it a ws6, I know these cars have sport suspensions but is there any way to eliminate the hard feel when you hit railroad crossings and expansion cracks on the road? car has low mileage, sfc's, strut brace, how low can I go with tire pressure?

You can buy a Calvalier, I hear they ride nice.

Without compromising handling there is nothing you can do. Lowering tire pressure will do nothing but accellerate tire wear. I run mine at 32 psi and would run no lower than what ever is on the door sticker (27 psi I think).

I think you can help road feel and help handling....get some new shocks. SFC's tighten the car up, but don't necessarily make it more comfortable.

Koni's ride nice, but are harsh for some. Bilsteins are noted for their bump comfort and might be worth a look.

Hello
Like mentioned above! If you are looking for a better ride quality then look into a set of shocks. But keep in mind you are dealing with a vehicle that is 10 years old and it is possible that the bushings in the control arms are shot as well. And I would suggest doing a inspection and see what type of shape they are in and the hardware as well. If you have any other questions feel free to ask.
Thanks
Brad

thanks for the replies, I fully realize there's a compromise for handling vs ride and maybe I'll try some new shocks, the car is pretty tight and only has 35000 miles, just thought someone might have figured this out.

Here the best answers you will get: your driving a car with 10 year old shocks that were'nt that good the day they were new. Do your self a favor and invest in a set of Bilsteins or better, one of the best investments you will make., IMHO, YMMV

I have an 01 WS6 convertible with 49k. Put on Bilsteins 2 weeks ago. The ride improved, and so did the handling.

These are not very smooth riding cars, but the new shocks feel way better.

I give them 2 thumbs up.

Expansion cracks never feel good. Especially with P275/40ZR17 tires.

There are no shocks that will make these cars ride smooth on a rough surface. The best you'll get is a well controlled ride, which the Bilsteins provide.

Part #'s:

Front: F4-BE5-2406-M2
Rear: F4-BE5-2407-H0

BTW, I kept the stock springs. They are your best bet if you are looking for ride quality.

SFC's make the problem worse, but are probably advisable on a convertible. Agree that Bilsteins are the answer. Made a major difference in ride quality when I installed them.

Yep, shocks will help a ton... that's the major issue.

I'd say a set of SLP Bilstein's (being that they are just cheaper than Bilstein HD's to your door)... $409.99 shipped for a set if you live in the continental US would be a good choice.

Keep in mind the tires you have also play a noticeable part in your cars ride quality. I don't know what tires you have on your car, but if you have the cheapest tires available, there's usually a good reason for that, it called compromise. Good shocks, and quality tires with the correct air pressure (30-32psi) will go a long way in keeping the ride quality very livable.

they are firestone firehawks 275/40r17, will admit I like a cushy ride better, when you can't feel the road, still love the car but if I can improve on it to suit me I'll give it a try, any suggestions on a better tire that will work?

Go back to stock wheels if you want to try even more, 245/50R16's will ride even better (you'll lose some traction and gain some sidewall flex, though)

I'm pretty sure these are the stock wheels for the ws6 package. but correct me if I'm wrong.

Yes, That is the stock size for WS6.

If you want it to ride even smoother, you can go with P235/55R16.

Actually, Firestone Firehawks are really good tires, so the only suggestion I can make is to try the same tire in a 285/40/17 when you need new tires, it'll give you a little more sidewall to lessen the road impacts.
